If he's a drinker or smoker (cigars!), then something related to those? That's another entire set of ideas... wine? a super nice bottle? humidor? cigar cutter and ashtray set?

Jameson 2007 Rarest Vintage Reserve around 450$ or for around half that Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy.

Will last and only pulled out for special occasion....

Ended up buying him a Scotty Cameron custom Putter!!! I'm very happy with this idea as it is something that should last forever!

Probably too late but I saw a whiskey/wine shop in my neighborhood selling a huge variety of whiskeys from different years. A bottle of 1965 (my year, so keep that in mind guys if you want to send presents) was only just over $100. I'm sure you can find a similar shop wherever you are.
