As a biker who doesn't own a car I do think it's a bit cheeky to film on a day where the car naturally has a massive advantage, on a dry day where both vehicles could perform much closer to their best it'd be a much more interesting race to watch.

I have to ride my GSXR every day, rain or shine, wether I'm going to dinner or heading out to go flying, but riding a bike on damp/greasy cold UK roads is starting to make me consider taking my driving test and getting a car.

What tyres are you using? I stuck some road 2's on my gsxr750 and they are amazing in the sun or rain and even the track

Well, i hope that they got their act together! My issue was long ago - a late 80s 7 series that ate a transmission at 52K, (warranty was to 50), for which i got a middle finger and a big bill from BMW. (the dealer tried to get them to cover it, they said no, despite the fact it was dealer serviced, all records from new) Paid the bill, drove to the Infinti dealer, traded it in, haven't owned one since. And how many cars have I bought since then? Shortsighted approach.

I'm a big BMW fan myself - probably not quite as much as Mr F14D, but still quite a lot - but I'm the first to admit that BMW can be extremely shortsighted sometimes when dealing with customer issues. In my several years of BMW ownership I've had a couple of issues that should've been an easy (and not too costly) fix for the dealership, but instead of just getting on with it they messed me about to such an extent that I've ended up writing to some very senior people in BMW. Lo and behold, once you go high enough, things invariably get fixed, but having to do that leaves a sour taste and is potentially very damaging to customer retention.

That said, I've evidently always gone back for more, and by doing so I've obviously fueled what I can only describe as BMW's arrogance in assuming that people will always be back.

As I've said before, most BMW dealerships in my experience are generally appalling for customer service......, but I just can't help loving the cars!

I totally concur on BMW's arrogant behavior. After all they're German. And you can see that elsewhere as well, not only in the automotive industry.

As I have said before, even though any problems I have had with my BMWs have always been solved positively, with BMW or the dealer paying a part or all of it even if the guarantee was off, I really cannot understand their behavior. Behavior that I have also heard from friends. Maybe the fact that I have some contacts in about 4 or 5 dealerships surely helps but that really is not the point.

And, of course they're assuming people will be back because they know that they have the best product. Sales numbers are not helping (the customer) either. Mercedes-Benz acted the exact same arrogant way, only to now find themselves as no 3 after BMW and Audi and playing catch-up in the premium market. They learned that the hard way because they didn't listen to their customers and they were arrogant enough to think that they knew best. Maybe it's a lesson BMW should be taught.

On the other hand, I'll let someone else teach them that lesson as I keep enjoying the Ultimate Driving Machine.

Yup Pilot Road 3's, and they're holding up astoundingly well to the various abuses and weather issues over here. They're wearing pretty well, too. :)

i have heard the 3's are to much of a wet tyre compared to the 2's, I have a new 2 in the garage waiting to be fit - my last one did 3 track days and about 4k miles which i am happy with and most of that was spirited riding
