Developed mostly by BMW and produced by PSA at Mulhouse.

And it's actually more sporty in the DS3 than in the Mini or in the Peugeot. 16HP more in fact.

Will be interested to know your impressions in a few months.

Apparently these little 1.6's are good for around 300BHP, pretty impressive for an engine of that size, especially if we wind the clock back a few years and look at the sort of horse power we used to get.

The Germans are currently producing small 1.4 - 1.6 engines that are more powerful (and more economical!) that the "old" big engines. But are they as smooth? Let me have some doubts, even if they're saying the contrary, of course.

As far as it being better looking than the MINI, that's matter of opinion, of course. But a great looking car, nonetheless.

You're absolutely right about that but I did not want to upset Stef, he's a good guy and very happy with his new wheels.

You're too kind!

:D

Problem is that here in England those German Mini's are very common and have been around for a while now.

Every Estate Agent (Real Estate Agent) around my way runs fleets of them.

Having said that, one of our fellow Breitling owners that some of us in the UK meet up with each year owns a JCW GP, and that is very, very nice indeed!

You're right Stef, I know the feeling. Then again those Minis are everywhere due to their commercial success.

As for the JCW, has the same engine as you do with a little more HPs, no big deal after all in our driving environment.

One HP's, luckily mine is fitted with the 207BHP version. I think the Racing was/is produced with two different power outputs for some reason, can't remember why that was though...................................

The problem I have being British is that the German Mini has no relevance to the original, especially now that they have some of the more hideous versions of it, that Crossover thing springs to mind, given it's size and weight, it should have really been the Austin Maxi.

Don't get me wrong it's a great car in its own rights, however, motoring journalists should also stop referring to it as British, because it isn't.

Point taken Stef, I know how you must feel because I share your "nationalistic" views. I also regret the might of the British car industry because they really used to produce some fine cars but I guess the world is moving on. One of those I will regret is the Triumph Stag despite all its cons.

You and me both, I'd be quite happy to have a Stag parked in my garage, in white please!

I'm with you there. I've got a 2005 Cooper S which I have loved. Some of the newer models, although interesting, don't seem very "MINI" to me. I'm a guy who loves a small sports car (my "big" car is an Audi A4), and the MINI fits the bill well, as this Citroen should for you. I love when I have business in Europe and the UK, as I get to see all the fun little cars that we don't get to have here. I'm jealous. I hope you are enjoying your ride, It's spectacular.

Thanks Greg.

I work next to one of BMW's main offices and everyday I walk past that crossover thing they have outside on display and it makes me cringe. They have just left it at the normal model!

How 'bout this one Stef? Surely your local plumber doesn't own one (yet).

A Mini MINI!

I'll wait until I see one in real life, hard to tell with the disguise graphics they put on them!
