Awesome vid and about what I expected. The bike is much easier to maneuver and has far superier power to weight ratio. I'd still take that car though. NICE

I did a bit of research but didn't find many lap records for motogp bikes for the same tracks. But I did find times for Monza. I know it's a power circuit, but the F1 car was about 22 secs quicker over one lap.

The key is whether the rider can ride the bike to it's potential to beat the car.

Physically, there is no chance that the rider can stay on the bike to take advantage of its full potential.

then you've never watched MotoGo or World Superbike. Those riders push the bike to the limit of traction loose at all times. The only thing keeping the bike from going faster is it's contact patch for both tires combined is only about the size a shoeprint.

cars can corner quicker but ther is such a VAST difference between the m3 and the 1000 that the slight bit of additional corner speed could not overcome the bike's power/weight ratio. It's common sense that a bike can not keep up with an F1 car...but the m3 is not remotely close to an f1 car.

I totally agree, but the video compares a bike that is at the very top end of the production scale to an unsimilar car. But this is a bike/ BMW promo vid after all. I would except the car loose. As I would with the motogp vs F1. The only time they would compare would be on acceleration. But the bike would still have it's work cut out and I believe it might just keep with the F1 car to about a ton and that would be it.

There is no way you would generate 5 g on a bike you physically couldn't hold on to it. It just the nature of the physics of the machine. You aren't going to be able to generate the sort of grip and aerodynamics needed.
Don't get me wrong I'm not bike bashing, i like bikes and those guys who race have my complete respect. But for a fair race you are going to need simular power to weight ratios.

This is an old discussion but on the road your going to need some very exotic supercar or something light like a Atom or Caterham to get near a bike. And bang per buck the bike wins every time in the speed stakes.

Personally I think it's all relative I had some fantastic drives in slow cars. It all about the feel of the car /bike and how it behaves. The thrill of driving/riding.
You don't have to have a superbike or supercar to have fun in the lanes :) :)

Yep, I agree. No need to have a supercar to play between lanes.
