This reminds me. I met a good friend in freshman year of college(2003) and he had downloaded THOUSANDS of mp3s over dial-up in high school. I was totally floored. The investment of time and effort to get there over 56 K modem made it that much more significant. The same is true for your 10,000+ posts Roff! Just. Plain. Crazy.

Well to be fair there have been plenty of posts from work, hotels, etc which have been on higher speed connections. Of course if any clients are reading this then no posts were during billable hours :!:

I actually buy quite a lot of music, and have been using a used CD store recently (highly recommend them - www.beatgoeson.com). I'm really looking forward to being able to buy online. I just need to find some reliable resources for my musical tastes, they can be tough to find.

Well you certainly wouldn't have been downloading it...

What sort of music grabs you, out of curiosity?

I'm a late 30s expat Brit so when I first started to get into music it was NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) - Iron Maiden would be the poster child. That led me to an appreciation for quite a lot of different styles of metal and it's stayed with me as I have matured.

Some of the less well known bands that I'm looking for now would be Tygers of Pan Tang, Exciter, Jaguar, Primal Fear, Overkill, Holocaust, Gamma Ray, Desolation Angels, Annihilator.

I'm still trying to complete collections of some other bands as well that are probably a little better know - Kind Diamond, Girl School, Iced Earth, Samson, Saxon, Witchfinder General and several others.

I've already got full collections of most of the 'big' names in the more mainstream metal genres.

Ha ha, gotta love the internet. You build up a mental image of someone and then get it blown completely out of the water!

Good bands there pal, thanks for extending my palette a little and adding to my shopping list! :strummin:

No idea, but the businessman at home on the ranch rocking out to Dragonforce just didn't click!

 I'm with The Black Baron on that one, as I'd never in a million years have seen that music list coming!

I guess back in the 80's while you were moshing out to the Maiden, I was listening to bands who seemed to spend most of their time either prancing around in frilly shirts and make-up (New Wave/New Romantics), or trilby hats, piano ties and sunglasses (SKA). In other words - Duran Duran, New Order, Spandau Ballet, Level 42, Depeché Mode, Madness, The Specials, etc.

So what's the correct etiquette for dressing before polishing ones Breitlings.

Breitling boxer shorts?

@Driver8, I asked my sister for an Exciter album for my birthday a couple of years ago, and she called me back to check because she thought I meant the album Exciter by Depeche Mode and was concerned about my musical tastes

I now have this vision of you listening to Haircut One Hundred's greatest hits - which is a CD single I assume

Exciter is a million miles away from the Modes best work. 101, Violator are both superb, but Songs Of Faith And Devotion is their best work by far. It's amazing what a heroin addition did for Dave Gahan's music!

Oh yeah Haircut 100, Howard Jones, Nik Kershaw, Thomson Twins..... get in there!

To fair I actually have a VERY wide ranging taste in music so I actually also have a few of the metal bands you mentioned above too.
