Archie42,

What!!! mean you have other pictures and end up posting these instead? and to add insult to injury you end the batch of pictures with a out of focus photo of a Seiko dealer. I'm sure there must have been something there or at the very least in the window worth sharing.

TOWNSVILLE

Jupiters Townsville Casino - think James bond 80s Style! (Rodger Moore) - Not Ashton Martin.... more clappy out Toyota Crown!

The Townsville Casino used to be called the SHERATON BREAKWATER CASINO when it was opened originally in 1986 (by Sir Joh). It is now owned by TAB corp - of horse racing fame. It is sad to say but the hotel has gone from being a "PREMIER HOTEL" like the Melbourne Cup is a Premier Horse race to being...... argh.... A tired old girl with as much class as a dog race (Sorry - but true).

The Hotel needs a refurbishment urgently (her salad days are long gone and past)..... HOWEVER many things are just a case of laziness....

A few examples:-
1) Whilst using the pool the stereo system was cranking out Commercial FM Radio Station Rock..... if you want ambiance you need to either pipe out ABC FM Classic or Classical music. Whilst most of the staff have probably never stayed (when travelling) in any accomodation beside a caravan park, you need to create a mood of upper middle class ambiance. Rock music is low class and is not recommended.

2) The toilet system in the rooms/bathrooms sinks. The air hole in the bathroom allows odors and smells to fill the bathroom. This is really quite putride and can be resolved with a $5- product called "DRAINO."

3) The laser printer in the business centre (free for quests to use) needed a laser toner cartridge replacement on our 1st visit. On our 2nd visit a week or so later.... printer cartridge had not been changed yet. This is just sloppy and slack. Either remove the laser printer and don't offer printing.... or fix the dam thing.

4) The difference between a good hotel and a truely great hotel is a very fine line. My wife forgot her Gucci sunglasses in the hotel room on our first visit.
A bad hotel steals any items left behind and denies ever seeing them.
A fair hotel holds onto any items left behind and will return them if the guest asks.
An excellent hotel rings the quest before they have even realised the item was left behind.
Jupiters Townsville is only a fair hotel using the above rating system. This is what makes guests super loyal..... and costs very little.... AND UNFORTUNATELY YOU MISSED OUT ON THE KUDOS !

5) You need to inform your baggage handlers how to treat genuine Louis Vuitton. I am talking about $30,000+ worth of bags here.... I relented and allowed your staff to help me with my LV on 1 occassion..... What a mistake..... Young man - do you realise you are holding 2 months salary in 1 hand there? Please tell your staff that the reason I don't want there help is for 1 simple reason - My luggage is worth more than my car and I want it to last for years..... SO PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH IT! Comprohendo?

6) Mattresses only last 5-10 years max. I suspect the mattress in Room 1413 is the original 1986 placement. Thanks for the really shitty night sleep.

7) I also suspect some of the items in my mini-bar are also ex-1986 original hotel fitout. Please tell me I am wrong.....

8) Fix the dam SPA!!!! IT WAS FREEZING! Spa's are supposed to be HOT! I suspect the spa has not worked properly since 2004, especially as only 1 noozle was working. Tell the pool guy to stop chatting up the bar staff and do this job properly! IT WAS A DISGRACE!

Even though your rant about the Hotel staff and your LV collection is probably not meant to be humorous I still couldn't help but chuckle just a little bit. I totally understand where your coming from though. And ditto on the Hilton preference. Consistency is the big factor with that franchise.
