Thanks guys, I appreciate the words. Even though I drive a prius now doesn't mean I always did nor am I as green person by any means. In nyc it is simply a great mileage car. And not cheap anymore at least. With tax, the plug in advanced is around $42,000. I'm one of those who know I'll never break even, but driving one can in fact be fun in certain ways. Fun like my camaro was? hell no, lol.

Totally agree, no question about it.

But biased or not, and speaking totally objectively, I would like to know what fun there is in driving a Prius. Unless, of course, if you consider a car as a transportation tool that takes you from point A to point B. Period. Conversation ends.

@ paradox I wasn't really expecting you to believe the real facts. Those that do not have open minds are the "green-minded" really, who refuse to accept facts when they do not serve their purpose. And if you don't want to talk further, it is fine with me but maybe it's because of lack of arguments. Furthermore, a hybrid by Toyota was a good idea but a hybrid by BMW, damn, that wasn't going according to the plan. A premium OEM with a hybrid?

Finally, I never said anything about you being a green or otherwise. I only questioned how can you find any fun in driving a Prius which is, by the way, one of the ugliest (IMHO) cars ever made. I believe, however, that there are countless other low-mileage cars, if that was the main reason of your choice, which I perfectly understand and admit. There are even some fully electric ones.

Anyway, have fun driving your Prius. :)

Having spent the better part of today on the German Autobahn at speeds north of 180kph, I can't quite disagree, that is, for a daily commute, I wouldn't mind paying less than what I do when it comes to fuel.

And then there's the aesthetic aspect, but that again are my personal priorities ;)

New truck - Ford F150 Platinum - given the appointments inside, it is a lot more luxury than truck. This one has the "ecoboost" twin turbo V6, lots of power and torque for towing.

Is this some sort of DIY conversion or have I missed something?

Could be a company converting normal 1-series to E-vehicles?

I'm just wondering why I haven't heard of this before it was posted on a WATCH-forum. :D

Not DIY at all. It is real stuff: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicles/1series/activee/2011/showroom/index.html

You can read a full review here: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=39715

There are 700 in the USA, all leased. I really regret the missed opportunity of leasing one.

I've been reading up on other stuff so I guess I missed that! I'll check it out at work tomorrow. Thanks for the tip I wonder if they are coming to Europe anytime soon. They should since, at least here, they're setting up charge stations everywhere!

There are 1'100 ActiveEs produced until now, 700 of which are in the USA. The rest were supposed to be for Europe and China through a recruitement process in early 2012 but I haven't heard anything more since the recruitement for US customers took place in January 2012.
