The Royal International Air Tattoo 2009 - RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire

Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 July 2009

Just been checking out the RIAT site so thought I'd post the key info for the aviation enthusiasts on here.

For the first time, all RIAT admission tickets must be bought in advance. There will be no cash admission on the day.

Ticket prices:
Before 31 March 2009
Saturday - £30.95
Sunday - £30.95
Either Saturday or Sunday - £39.95
The £3.00 admin fee per booking (not ticket) will be waived before 31 March.

After 1 April 2009
Saturday - £34.95
Sunday - £34.95
Not clear if the either/or tickets will be available after 1 April.
A £3.00 admin fee per booking (not ticket) will be charged after 1 April.

Entry is free for under 16s.

Ticket line: 0800 1071940 or http://www.airtattoo.com/airshow/Airshow_Tickets#tickets

Gates open: 07:30

There is an interesting development regarding parking.
"In a show of support for the Air Tattoo, the US Air Force has granted permission for limited car parking on concrete on the base next summer. Prior to 9/11, air show visitors had been allowed to park on the base but since then, heightened security measures meant that was not possible.

In order to meet the necessary security requirements, Air Tattoo organisers have agreed that visitors parking on base will be chosen randomly on the day from the many thousands of people attending."

No participation list has yet been released but the two main themes are 60 Years of NATO and Sea Search 09 (Maritime Patrol and Surveillance). Perfect opportunity to wear your Emergency! :D

Here's a short promo showing highlights of Friday last year before the heaven's opened!

As always, I'll be there on the Saturday so if anyone fancies a meet, I suggest the Breitling tent at 11:30ish since it tends to fill up after 12:00. Maybe we could get a breitlingsource.com poster in there!

Great timing and framing on that picture. Did you take it?

Thanks. I was still using film at that show (2006) so I used the camera in my SE750i. Slight crop and tweak in PhotoShop/Picassa but basically as it came out of the phone. The shutter delay almost lost Red1 - the top of the photo isn't cropped!

That makes the timing of the photo even better! :)
