I was out of line. I took advantage of a target of opportunity, and I was wrong. I’d hate to think this could jeopardise your LE application – I doubt Breitling is into collective punishment. The only thing I would add is that the bulk of Breitling LEs go to organisations which comprise part of, or are strongly linked to, the military – top lads, but being ‘friendly’ isn’t overly high on their priority list.
To be frank, it seems to me that it’s one thing for dudes flying jets for the US Navy to have their own special watch to commemorate their brotherhood forged over years of dedicated service, and another thing for an internet forum of people, who, let’s face it, could be anybody. I reckon Breitling would be less concerned about “power-tripping ego-inflationsists” than publication of silly posts about the secret service. The internet is full of such arrant tosh, and I overreacted.
I’ve apologised – but I refute any implication that Breitling would reconsider a LE for this site because I sought, wrongly, to extricate Archie from the forum. It’s time to move on. Good luck with the LE.
