They didn't take long in making a decision either. Will be interesting to see the result from the appeal.

Happy to hear it. But have you ever tried a Galaxy S II or, even better, S III ?

Personally, I have also tried an iPhone and IMHO the Galaxy is light years ahead. That is, of course, MHO.

I don't think you have ever had a "humble" opinion. Those pictures demonstrate that pretty clearly. I am by no means an apple fan boy, but there are quite a few things apple had before android. That said, I'm glad there are options :D

Edit: if this text, or any pictures are too small on your Galaxy, feel free to pinch to zoom, just be sure to remember which company incorporated that feature first. :geek:

Yeah actually tried both of them. Like I said, personal preference. I'm not a huge fan of Apple either, and I don't buy gadgets based on "popularity". I just don't like Android. Period.

I think it is a bit pathetic patenting and arguing about such concepts as pinch and zoom.
In that case point and click with a mouse should have been the same issue?
What about raising the music volume by turning a knob?
The world is just getting sad the way it is going if you ask me.

Patents protect companies, as technology changes these companies need to hold to what they can. While I agree that some are insanely silly, I can appreciate trying to protect your own.

I'm sure the first knob controlled volume design was patented 100 years or so ago. As we're tube based transistors. I don't get the these days comment. Edison patented the incandescent light bulb. Ford patented their assembly line machinery. And I'm quite sure Leon Breitling patented that first chronograph pocket watch. Every company that makes anything files for patent protection on both new technology and/or design. What incentive is there to have expensive R&D departments and create new things, if other companies can rip it off two weeks after the product hits the market?

As for Apple, they are going over the top IMO. But that is just my opinion. And before a jury of non-experts had a chance to hear the case, it had to pass judicial scrutiny, likely several times in the form of motions to dismiss, demurrers, and motions for summary judgment as well as motions to limit the evidence the jury would hear and see and the arguments counsel could make and the applicable and proper law on which to instruct the jury. I am not defending the verdict or Apple, just pointing out that this decision was not made by just by 12 uninformed average Joes, it is the result of a ton of work by the lawyers and decisions by a Federal judge before and durning the trial.

Point and click actually was and Apple missed the boat on protecting it properly... After they ripped it off from Xerox...

Reality is not what you see, it's what the court sees.

And that is exactly what I was trying to say but perhaps did not make it as explicit.
I was not trying to argue the patent concept and what it is intended for but rather commenting on how far it is taken, these days. IMO at least.
