Hey Driver8, there's a show from National Public Radio (NPR), callled Sound Opinions that's put on by two Chicago music critics and they've recently done a retrospective episode in honor of REM's breaking up. It's a good listen and I found it interesting.

There is a podcast of the episode (#306) that is a free download on iTunes. Just an FYI for you to check it out!
