Maybe Lebron got a new PR guy or something, since at least todays comments are better.

EPSN wrote:
"Basically I was saying at the end of the day this season is over and -- with all hatred -- everyone else has to move on with their lives, good or bad. I do too," James said.

The Heat are far from over their Finals loss to the Mavericks and were just beginning to put things in perspective as they cleaned out their lockers and went through final meetings on Tuesday. Dwyane Wade said he was in a state of depression. James said he was the definition of the word "low."

Two days after their Game 6 defeat, James said he was especially upset because he felt he let his teammates down with a poor performance. James averaged just 17.8 points and had several poor late-game efforts during the series as the Mavs won the final three games to take the title.

"I put a lot of pressure on myself not to let my teammates down, maybe to a fault at times," James said. "I didn't play up to my own standards. Did that cost us the Finals? I don't know. I'm not satisfied with my performance."

James was also asked if he had any regrets over the events of the last year, especially his decision to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"You can't live your life going back and saying 'if I could do it again,' life doesn't run its course like that," James said. "There are times when you feel like if you did have another opportunity you would change it but you can't move on in life thinking about the past."

On a day when the Heat hoped to be playing a Game 7, Wade said he thought this season would be easier. The team came within two victories of a title but struggled at times as James, Wade and Chris Bosh had some issues meshing their roles. Wade admitted getting three All-Stars to fit was more challenging than it first appeared when they all signed with the Heat last summer.

"You come into a season and see the talent on your roster and you immediately think the game is going to be easier for you; you expect certain things to happen," Wade said. "You have to work the game, no one can come in and automatically be great at something."

I read that online while eating a Wendy's extra spicy chicken sandwich and almost didn't finish. And of course my thought went right to his P/R guy(the same guy or team of guys who probably prepared him for what to say before he ad-libbed his way into infamy Sunday night). Which is something we leave out when bemoaning the unfortunate young superstars who end up assholes because of their environment - they have paid specialists on staff to tell them what to say and what not to say, what to do and what not to do, and on and on. Not to mention freebie assistance from their team and the league.

What recent Harvard MBA grad gets that kind of help to keep his big old ego and bigger mouth in check?

Well I never really cared or followed the NBA all that much - their egos were just too big for my tastes. So Shark... sorry to HiJack this thread but ...............

LET'S TALK HOCKEY! :) , YOU KNOW US MINNESOTA GUYS... Who's it going to be ? Boston or Vancouver? Boston has the momentum, but neither team can win away from home. Hmmm.....

Very strange series this has been. I've watched every game (still trying to impress a Canadian acquaintance  ). Vancouver yesterday looked like they had a pretty similar gameplan to the previous game, but those 5 minutes in the first period cost them. Huge decision for the coach about whether to use Luongo for game 7 - his confidence looked shot yesterday.

Luongo is going to have to start game 7. Vancouver has way too much invested in him - long term contract that they don't have a hope fo trading. If they sit him then they are in a mess next season.

He has a history of bouncing back from bad games, and has played well at home, although will doubtless be on a short leash. I have no doubt that he will play well tomorrow night, but then so likely will Tim Thomas and Boston has been in all the games in Vancouver - it's a toss up for me.

Thanks for the background info Roff, what you say makes a lot of sense. He was very good in game 5 so clearly he has some mental resilience, but I thought he looked worringly off the pace last night (especially with the third goal).

Pretty sure Thomas isn't going to let many in at the other end.

( So after about 5 minutes I think I'm a hockey expert... My friend is training me on cliches to use: "it's the ones you get in the net that count" and so on.)

One last thing on Lebron, I would think that a kid, he's only 26 after all, who's been told his whole life that he's the greatest at something, has been loved by everyone and worshiped by a whole friggin city suddenly finds himself the most hated man in sports. That's gotta be a tough transition. Granted he's been a complete douche most of the year, and I'm not trying to make excuses for him, but sometimes we tend to judge people by how we would act, none of us think like someone who's been in those positions. We've all been criticized before and dealt with failure and all the other crap that comes with being a normal person. This guy lives in a different world where for the past ten years or so he could do no wrong, now everything thing he does is wrong. Anyway that's enough about LeBron.

I'd love to see Vancouver win it all, they don't have any other sports up there so this is about the last shot they'll have at a championship for a while but honestly Boston has outplayed Vancouver all series. even though Luongo has played great at home Boston knows they can beat him. Thomas on the other hand has played like a stud, even in the losses.

About the only thing that would give me hope Lebron has a chance of becoming a mensch is finding out he fired his entire management team - every last one of them. My God, "The Decision"??? That was a first and all time low in sports history. Many wunderkinds in the NBA, NFL, MLB, and even that other league (NHL is it?? :poke: ) have had the same upbringing as James, but no one has gone so ridiculously far.

Honestly, I don't have much hope and it's a shame because he could be the best who ever played before his career is over. Jordan was loved (except ironically enough in Cleveland where they never got over The Shot). Lebron went in the opposite direction into unchartered waters. It's hard to play like the best in the game if you are reviled. So far that is all he's earned (and a shit load of $$$)

The "decision" was retarded and honestly just kinda awkward, but if you think about it everything else that's happened in his life since high school has been made public and scrutinized by the vast majority of the NBA loving public. Cleveland had a giant frigging billboard with a picture of him that said "Witness", like it was the second coming or something. He probably thought that the decision show would be good so everyone would know what was going on. That's narcissistic, but I'd probably be pretty narcissistic too if I was worshipped since I was a teenager.

And I don't think he'll ever be the greatest player ever who's to say how he'd stack up against Wilt, who I think of as the greatest. Who else averaged 50 pts for a season, led the league in rebounds and then led the league in assists in a different season. Oh, and he scores 100pts in a game, pretty tough numbers to stand up to, but its hard to compare players from different eras.

What do you mean????

There's the BC Lions, the Vancouver White Caps, the Vancouver Grizzli - oh never mind.

Not sure that 11 seconds into overtime of game 2 was particularly 'stud like'

I think the thing is that these guys pay millions of dollars every year to advisers, managers, PR etc. As much as we hate Lebron, he doesnt do these things on his own. These guys are essentially owned by the team and sponsors (harsh word, but accurate), and as much as we hang on their every move, management is 10 steps ahead. How in the world did nobody stop "The Decision?" It blows my mind that nowhere along the line, nobody stepped in and put a stop to it. The guy is an a-hole, but his management team seems to be as stupid as they come. Theyre making him a lot of money, but at what cost? I rarely heard it mentioned beforehand, but I was under the impression that he was obviously staying with Cleveland. Why else would he drag it out and then go on TV and humiliate them? If he'd announced that he was staying, nobody would have made an issue of it. Its the fact that he completely took a sh*t on them on such a large scale thats the problem.

But very bad in games 2 and 3. That's why he was replaced early.

Depends on how he will start the game...
