any reason why it takes so long to add attachments? trying to upload 1 tiny picture and its been trying to upload it for over an hour?

Sounds like it's locked up and your pic size is too big. You'll need to either resize the picture to 250k or less or use an on-line hosting service like Photobucket. Instructions are here.

It only takes me 3 or 4 minutes for large ones - and that's over my super fast rural Canadian dial up service!

Clearly something wrong and br549 has given you the link to a hosted solution.
