Hey guys and gals,
I have been thinking about getting a Pro II for my AS but will probably wait until the economy turns around a little bit. Is it wise to buy a new one from authenticwatches @ 495.00 or wait until one pops up on the forums for cheaper? What does it cost from an AD? Thanks!
Daniel Jordan

It's $500.00 list price from the AD.

500 bucks seems to be the going price for a new PRO II no matter where you get it. Unless you can find a pre-owned one, I don't think that the ADs discount them too much. I got a Bretiling leather strap from my AD recently, and all they could do for a discount was give me the tax. If you do get a pre-owned one, you have to make sure that it will fit your watch. The 22mm PRO II is the same basic strap for all the Aeromarine models, except for the end link, which fits the watch at the lugs. Unless you get a PRO II specifically for your watch, you will have to purchase the end lugs separately. I was thinking of putting the PRO II from my Steelfish on my Seawolf, and my AD said it would cost 80 bucks for a pair of end links.
Cheers,
Carl

It's a commonly held belief that you can't get decent discounts on straps / bracelets, but I'm not sure how true that really is. I've always got good discounts when I've bought, maybe not quite watch discount territory, but still >25%.

Try George at Govberg and see what he will do as you are in the US - certainly there is no point in buying online as prices seem to be pretty much list.

I agree. I bought a Pro ll last year and I think I paid about $425.00. Not much of a discount but it helped a little.

Having priced out and bought a couple of straps (Croco and an OR) there is a slight discount only available anywhere, it seems. My local AD did the same as George (whom I bought both of my Breitlings from -- smoked my AD on price and service, thank you) so I threw the local guy a couple bones. :lingsrock: Certainly go AD just for the piece of mind as the grey market discounts are minimal. IMHO

I had the same predicament as you, just leave the Pro on my Super Avenger or go for a new look and get the Ocean Racer.

£210 later and it's on the watch and i love the watch even more......i think i've sold the Pro bracelet to put towards the Pro II now so i can have a "dressy" look with the watch as well.

Do it man, it looks so much better. :lingsrock:

If it's any help at all: the Pilot bracelet, on the Windrider models, is $1300. by itself. The Pilot bracelet for the Blackbird is $1400. because it has the bevelled edges.
I think that the PRO II is a beautiful and sturdy bracelet, which suits the Aeromarine models beautifully. One of the best looking straps on any watch. When I purchased my Superocean in 1997, it had a PRO I bracelet. The bracelet did eventually give out in a way, one of the links had to be replaced but that was after 10 years, and for some reason it was no longer possible. I literally wore that watch every single day for over 10 years, so I was not too upset when the bracelet gave out. The PRO II is yet more advanced, and a stronger bracelet altogether. My guess is that you would get even more wear out of it. I would go for it and enjoy it!
Cheers,
Carl
