I am close to buying my first Breitling. I will be passing through Amsterdam Schipol airport next week.
Assuming that they have the watch that I want, what is the chance of getting a good price?
I realise that sometimes "Duty Free" can be translated as ripoff. Does anyone have experience of this airport?

I hate to say it but yes, even though it's duty free, its still an airport and they know that you won't find a similar product until you get several miles from the airport, so they basically jack up the prices. I was in the airport in Zurich last spring waiting for a transfer flight and they had a watch store that sold Breitlings, I was looking at the Navitimer Heritage, it was tax free, but I believe it was about 7,895.92 CHF, which is $7,000 USD. In the US the Heritage should only be about $5,250 USD.

I was in Seoul last week and the airport had a Breitling display with the Colt oceane II. They were asking $1800.00 for it but would tack on a 5% discount for using a visa card. If you had a platinum visa it was 10% off. That is about the same price as the AD I go to in SLC.

Amsterdam airport is very expensive, some products are cheaper behind the duty free shops.. i think you wil get a better chance getting one from the U.S with the nice dollar price at the moment, then a bargain at schiphol

For a discontinued watch?

Damn, that's expensive!
