Hi. I am about to purchase my 2nd ling. (first one being standard Navitimer), have decided to buy a Superocean Chrono but having trouble deciding whether to have the black or white dial? I am going for the profesional bracelet. I would be interested to hear any comments on choice from guys that have experienced a simular dilema. I know it's subjective but we all face these decissions where you are not sure of your own mind!! Frustrating.

Like you say it's subjective.

They will look different so you need to see them on your wrist. It would be the white dial for me right now simply because I have more dark dials.

Like Roff said, you have to try them on. The White dial sometimes has a stronger presence then a black dial. I have all Black dials only because I havent found a White dialed watch that called to me. What color is Navitimer?

I would suggest the white. Mostly because you can put any strap on it and it works. The Black limits you. I agree that the white has more presence. White tends to look bigger on the wrist. I have always liked the SOC white dial with blue subs. Like the guys said, try them on you will know after seeing them. Either way you will have a great watch!

Best, Mark

Thanks for the replies guys, in answer to the question, my Navi has a black dial. There is something about the White dial Superocean that is calling me, but I tend to like black dial watches.

You make a very good point when you say the the white dial has more presence........maybe I should toss a coin to decide eh!

I have a black dial AS and I´ve had two other pieces on my mind. I´ve thought for a while now that next I would get a Navitimer and then a white (or silver) dialed Aeromarine (haven´t decided which yet). Recently though I´ve been thinking to first get the white dialed Aeromarine first since I´d have to wait "too" long to get the Navitimer.

A white dialed watch has a lot of presence, it´s much more eye cathing and does wear significanty bigger than a black one. I want the white one for occasions that call for more blingy appearance.
I want that my watches will be significantly different with each other in look, style and attitude so they´ll each have their time and place.

So I´ll follow the guys and say it´s very subjective. All depends what your looking for. If you want more variation and show go for the white (since you allready have a black dialed piece). If you want a more "ordinary" and less noticeable Ling then it´s black. If one is calling more then go for that one and forget all this mumbling!

I have the blue dial one, mostly on ProII. and love this combo. White dial is nice, but legibility is better on the black or the blue dial.
I hope sooner or later Breitling will bring to the market a "Blackeye Blue" as they call the blue dial with black sub-dials and date disc combo on the new Chronomat B01. This would be a clear winner!
BTW IMHO a Breitling must be blue
Best regards and keep in mind: any dial you choose, can't go wrong with the CSO.
Regards: Robertus

You are all wrong. It is NOT subjective.
Get the white one.

I love the white-dial chrono SO. It's one that's been on my (ever shifting) list for a while now. I find it to be one of the best dials with a brown leather strap, it just looks so sharp. It also looks great on the bracelet. This combo is one of the few I have seen out "out in the wild" and it caught my eye right away.

I got this watch in December in black and love it. Classy look and can be dressed up or down. I think you'll be happy with either one, but the black is going to have a classier look. To me, the white is too loud and for someone looking to have it noticed. Nothing against that, just my personal opinion.
