Post subject:  Firm end date for supply of ETA ebauche movements?

Howdy folks,

I have had my eye on a Chronomat Evo for some time now and I was just wondering if anyone had more precise information on when exactly ETA would stop supplying their ebauche movements to Breitling (and everyone else). I know it is supposed to be sometime in 2010 (or maybe 2011?) but I haven't been able to find any specific timing.

I am also wondering if anyone knows if Breitling has a backlog of ebauches so they would be able to continue to produce their current product line while production of the B01, and presumed subsequent in-house movements, ramps up.

Basically I just want to make sure I don't miss out on my chance to snag that Evo!

All I have heard is '2010', and yes that's the supply stopping, Breitling will have some in inventory to use up. However, there is no way that Breitling will be completely in house by then so they will have to announce some strategy - producing the ETA / Valjoux designs themselves, using completed movements, etc

Thanks for the info Roff. I'm sure they have some kind of strategy in place but I wonder what it is. Seems the bulk of their models require an ebauche of some kind and that spooling up in-house movements for all of them would take quite a while. I can't imagine they want to go through a multi-year period of limited production (or maybe they do to drive up prices for new and secondary markets?). I'm sure someone will post the info here once Breitling announces its plan.
