 Post subject: How long?

A buddy of mine has a chronomat. How long should it stay wound? He is saying it stops about every day and a half. Is that normal as far as you guys know?

The power reserve is 42 hours, so that doesn't sound too far out depending on how accurate the 'day and a half' is.

Seems like it is shorter than that, but I suppose that sounds about right... How do these watches stay wound... is the auto winder lateral or vertical.

The rotor is parallel to the caseback and rotates around a central pivot. However, because of the low resistance bearings and weight distribution to the periphery of the rotor it doesn't take much to keep it wound - 'normal' wear each day is plenty. Failing that, manually winding it once a day will do the trick.
