I was watching tonights episode 11/6/07. And mariska hargitay's character is wearing what I believe to be is a Breitling Navitimer Heritage. White dial with black subdials. I don't know how a NYPD detective can afford a watch like that, but hey someone correct me if im wrong. |

Yeah perhaps the Heritage is from her own watch collection, again as I said it seems out of place with her character who is a NYPD Detective (not that i'm implying all NYPD cops can't afford Breitlings, but for the character on the show). So maybe she thought hey, it would be cool to wear this watch on the show today. |

There are more ways of an income than your normal job... If you are a bit talented and somewhat fortunate, it's "easy" to expand the income on the stock market. Personally I work as a MSc in chemical engineering and even if that's reasonably paid it's not enough for living AND feeding my watch hobby. Luckily there have been a few good deals... ![]() It's true what they say, money breeds money. When you have some that you can spare and invest, it's easier to gain and make profit than if you couldn't afford the investment in the first place. (Oh my God, did it really take a few years at the university for him to understand that basic rule?! ![]() ![]() |

(Oh my God, did it really take a few years at the university for him to understand that basic rule?! ![]() ![]() Again I wasn't knocking NYPD cops, the watch just seems out of place for the character. For instance on Seinfeld, I heard from interviews that the George Costanza's character was purposely given clothes that were one size smaller so that he would look the part, the selfish, shrewd, loser. But, imagine if one episode that George's character was given a Brioni Suit, then it would seem his character is out of place. Jerry's character was shown to make a substantial amount of money traveling and doing comedy gigs, that shows when he wears a variety of Breitlings on the show. PS - In reality if a NYPD cop was wearing a Breitling freely in the Police Department, I would think he would be suspected of doing illegal activities. (Bribes, Shakedowns, etc). Unless it is shown that the cop has confirmed sources of income, such as you stated stock market, inherited money. |
