One thing I noticed after a trip to Vegas last weekend is how I get treated differently when I wear my 6.75. Dealers, floor men, cocktail waitresses were all much more attentive to me then on previous trips when I wasn't wearing a watch. I've noticed a similar thing when I went to the mall, sales associates at nice stores were falling over themselves to help me now where before I would tend to be ignored I showed up wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Oh and of course the girls love it. I'm guessing this extra attention is a pretty common?

I have had this type of thing happen before also!! Sometimes its nice because you get the good service but sometimes its annoying and you know that in the end the people that are suddenly "nice" to you just want your $$$$$$

Sometimes its just in your mind...the confidence comes out when you strap on the big B. Just imagine what could happen if you could harness that confidence and use it in everything you do

Aside from that, a lot of these people are trained to look at these things. They need to size you up to see if youre any use to them. It can be hard to get a peek at shoes or clothing brands or car sometimes, but the watch is usually easy to spot.

I always look at peoples watches, just can't help it.
I drive my other half mad with it. I only have to see a certain watch on the tv on someone's wrist and i'm off"Look thats a Rolex or look thats a breitling"
Just my thing i guess.

I do love that watch but i have chosen this baby but with a "CROC" Strap Classy but not trying to say to much.

I think them sizing you up is just a part of the business. Typical stereotype/assumption expensive watch deep pocket so spend time with this customer versus the other.
I think it goes both ways, not really any different than when you put on your best suit when trying to make the first impression. You only do that in hopes that the other person would notice.

One of my more favorite versions of the Chronomat, that's for sure.

HAHA, you can buy a replica for 60 bucks and the average person would never know the difference.

Your right, you can
But why let yourself down like that? your only cheating yourself.
I would know that what i have is not the real deal and that means more to me than what anyone else thinks.

Yes but YOU (the owner) would know the difference and thats what counts. I personally do not care what other people think when they see my watch, it is all about how that watch makes me feel everytime I look at it. The feeling I get from looking at / owning a real Breitling is far better (to me) than the feeling I would get lookoing at a fake - its all about personal preference and if you want a watch to impress other people then good on you, but there is no need to mock others for their preferences.

Working in NYC in (what's left of) the I-banking industry causes me to come into contact with a lot of folks trying to out-do each other with their watches.

What I enjoy most about wearing a Breitling (daily wearer is my white face two-tone Crosswind Special LE) is the number of times I've been approached by people wearing either a Submariner or Sea-Dweller with the comment that 'Oh, Breitling is a great watch. But you need to add a Rolex to your collection.'

It seems that this particular neck of the woods sees the Sub as some sort of hallmark of professional aptitude. But we've all seen and experienced the dangers of following the Wall Street herd. So perhaps the financial lessons are not the only lasting lessons that will come out of this disaster. Viva El Ling!
