Post subject:  Japanese models?

So I'm looking into the SuperOcean Steelfish X-Plus Ref# a17390 (889) and I ran into some watches with the following Ref #: A179B72PFA that look to be exactly the same (made in 2005). I searched the Ref # and only got Japanese sites so I figure they are made for the Japanese market. Question is, does anyone know what the difference is? The Japanese models seem to be a bit cheaper ($150 to 200 less). Thanks for the help.

Wish i could say i did, but the only thing I can give you.. is that in 2005 the production model was the SuperOcean Steelfish (a17360), before they made the X-Plus. This model is 2mm smaller than the current X-Plus and has the helium valve in the 10 oclock instead of the 9. Looks almost the same though aside from the size. So it's possible that this A179B72PFA is a japanese iteration of the Steelfish a17360. Keep in mind that the regular superocean and the steelfish of that era have the same ref no.
