Is it possible that the US retail in USD is the same as Canadian retail in CDN? Looking at some posts here seems it is that way. Example SA steel case, prof bracelet - $4,550 CDN same in US? With CDN dollar at a 25% discount, if retail same, then trips to Canada would be very advantageous. AD discounts are same or better. Tom |

The prices aren't the same, but they are similar, largely because the last adjustment was in May when the two dollars were fairly close to par. Add to the the fact that it's relatively easy to get substantial discounts and it does become appealing. However, you will likely have to buy in person as the Canadian ADs are very reluctant to ship to the US right now due to pressure from BUSA. Also remember that you'll have to pay federal sales tax (5%) which is no longer refundable for non residents, and technically you have to declare the watch at the border. If you would be headed to Ontario then you have just over a year. On July 1st 2010 the sales tax structure is changing in Ontario to essentially merge federal and provincial sales taxes into a single 13% tax. |

Great buy with the Bentley. I was pretty blown away to realize that a new Aerospace with professional titanium bracelet was about $1,750 USD pre-tax which is about 5% for a US resident if they save the provincial at 7.5%. Even if taxes are all in I suspect the end price is very favourable right now. I just bought an Aerospace Repetition Minutes NOS with UTC for about $200 less. Don't get me wrong, I love the older style much more than the new style, but the comparison is sobering and makes me think a second Breitling may not be far off. |
