Hi Guys,
Ever since I saw the pics of the new Chronomat - and, yes, I do like it, and can't wait to see it in person - I have been wondering if they are going to give the Blackbird the same treatment. The case of the Blackbird, if I am correct, is the same as the Chronomat. Just the movement, dial and bracelet are different. It would make sense to change the case of the Blackbird also.
Or would they discontinue the Blackbird? Now that the layout of the subdials is the same, only the calendar in a different spot. I believe the Pilot bracelet has been changed a bit, but I can't really tell from the photos.
I would hate to see the Blackbird discontinued. Perhaps if they give it the same new case, they will do something else to keep it's uniqueness in the Windrider line? On the other hand, it is such a beautiful piece as it is, maybe the uniqueness would lie in keeping the current case.
Just some thoughts.
Cheers,
Carl

Well, because of the subdial lay out, IMO B01 Chronomat (after these couple of days I´m fan too) is already more reminiscent of the BB anyway. Just without the BigD. So just with black subdials, that would sort of be it, Wouldn´t it? I don´t see that in the cards though. On the other hand with these exciting times... well... Oh, so fun to see how it goes.

Hmmm... Probably now we got everyone afraid, that the BB would be ruined with the controversial bezel too. It´s going to get intresting.

I´m guessing some models will get the new treatment, but most will stay with the classic design. I really can´t wait how the cards play out during this year.

I recently treated myself to my first ever Breitling and finally opted for the polished Blackbird and I just love it. I would hate it to be replaced or upgraded already!

One thing I've noticed is that the writing on the back of the case changed but nothing else that I can see.

The first one I tried has the same engraving as shown on the website, i.e. 'Blackbird' but the one I have now says

'Chronographe BLACKBIRD Automatic 300m'
Edition Speciale Manufacture en Suisse'
A44359

Anyone else seen this new caseback?

Haven't seen the new caseback yet. My AD has one in the window, so I will drop in and see it.
That is certainly more appropriate, as I have always felt that the Blackbird is a very "Special Edition". The most unique model, I feel, and certainly one of my favourites. Personally, I don't think they should do anything to it, but we have to just wait and see.

Cheers,
Carl
