Hmmm... just checked the Breitling website and nothing new there... these pics looks fakt to me, but who knows?
For instance, look at the datefont - sure, they might change it, but it looks like a photoshop job to me. And the rider tabs??? Doing them like that is blasphemy.

Guess we will find out later today ;)

I sure hope they are not real, that thing is ugly! The current Chronomat is a much nicer design. Whats with that bezel??

The slightely smaller size is also strange, I did not expect a much larger case, but was sure it would be 44-44.5MM

It is about 9AM in Basel, should be a few hours before this is either denied or confirmed, wishing for the former to be honest.

Thanks for the update on whats going on on other forums though.

These images may be fake. The pearl at 12 o'clock is not in the centre of the rider tab either.

Edited: Obviously an optical illusion caused by the roundness of the rider tab

Altair - I am with you 100%. If this is the real thing... damn. That bezel is really really fugly.

Well, I've just seen it on the Breitling website and the pics don't seem to be fake.

Yes, it's on the site.
I like it, except the bezel.

Do we think this is going to be an addition to the range or a long-term replacement?

I really don't think it's an improvement over the old Chronomat Evolution. The dial is pretty nice but that bezel looks more like a Tag Heuer...

Wonder what the retail on these will be.

I think the word "bezel" is going to be used a lot on this thread. I don't like it either, or the font that is used on the bezel. I can already feel that it's gonna take a loooong time for this one to grow on me.

Well REALLY like it, however I would have hoped it might have been slightly bigger.

Whilst I am a major fan of the new design bezel, I feel the font used is more "vogue / current / fashionable" than we are used to from Breitling & Im not sure how well it will stand the test of time. Totally agree with the reference to the similarity to Tag bezel.

Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh!

I guess that's true actually BlingAdam: we maybe shouldn't judge this purely from the photos alone. Watches often look much better (or worse!) in the flesh.

The smaller size intrigues me though - does this signal a move away from big watches for Breitling? Maybe things have peaked!

I'm reserving judgement on the looks because if history tells us anything it's that anything different takes a while to sink in and gain acceptance.

However I will say right now that I am disappointed with the size. Unless it wears bigger than it appears, I can categorically say that I will NOT be buying this piece on the dimensions alone.

I wasn't looking for a monster (certainly not SA or even Bentley sized), but I was looking for something in the region of 45 to 46mm. Breitlings historically wear smaller than their sizes suggest - for example the Steelfish (at 44mm) wears much smaller than it should - so this is not a great move IMO.

I must be honest, but I'm incredibly disappointed by the size thing.

Still, unless there is something else in the wings from Breitling, the up-side is that it effectively means I can write Breitling off for this year, which gives me more cash to invest in either a Pannie, a JLC or perhaps another IWC!

You are right D8, but considering the more streamlined bezel and lack of protruding rider tabs I hardly think it will wear bigger than it looks.

It is not love at first sight for me, that's for sure. But I'll put myself squarely in the "reserve judgement" camp. I've had many pieces grow on me in the past. But I'm certainly not going to rush out and order one.

The bezel font is a little out-there for their signature piece, IMO.

I am intrigued by the variety of dial colors. I'm assuming we'll see those in some other models, which could be nice. I like the layout of the dail. The square pattern in the middle reminds of the Cockpit, but I don't care for the Roman Numeral version they have in the photo gallery.

EDIT: Forgot to add, I was *really* hoping for a display back. Maybe they didn't want to detract from that new bezel

Oh well, more money for a Bentley purchase. No, not the car.
