There are now pictures circulating about a new Bentley model.

Nothing on the Official site yet but I can't see this not being genuine. I really like it (makes up for the underwhelming - at least in pictures so far - Chronomat B01)

Specs

Movement: Automatic, Breitling 25B calibre, COSC-certified chronometer, 38 rubies, 28,800 vib/h

Functions: Hours, minutes, seconds, date, 30-second chronograph, 15-minute and 6-hour totalisers. Variable tachometer

Case: Steel or 18K red gold (limited to 500 pieces), 48.7 mm
Convex sapphire crystal, anti-reflective treatment on both sides
Ratcheted rotating bezel with variable (circular slide-rule) tachometer
Water-resistant to 100 m

Dial: Black Velvet, Silver Storm or Bronze for the steel or 18K red gold models
Neptune for the steel version only
6-hour, 15-minute and small seconds at 6, 9 and 3 o’clock respectively
Date window at 4.30

Bracelet/Strap: Barenia leather, crocodile or rubber strap, or metal Speed bracelet

Very nice, still prefer the GMT.

Odd, it seems to compete with other Bentley models, rather than fill gaps in the lineup.

you mean a B01B  do you not think it is counterproductive to unvail one calibre and shove it in a handful of models at varying price points.

Hmmmm, not really. You just need to look at how many models the B13 is in. I wasn't thinking of them replacing the entire range or anything with B01, but it would certainly make sense (to me at least!) to have it in couple of models to encourage a few more sales. While we may be the exception on sites like this, the furore about the new in-house movement will definitely make the more casual buyer take note of the types of movement on offer. Therefore to me it would make sense to put the B01 in a couple of pieces just in case buyers don't warm to the Chronomat........ which is funnily enough what appears to be happening here. OK, as I say, enthusiasts like us are the exception rather than the rule, but I don't think that using the B01 in more than one model from the outset would be couter-productive. Just my opinion of course.

Agreed - just another Motors.

...... which is what I was getting at by them not sticking a B01 in it.

Yes I figured.

I can't believe that they think that they are going to sell 50,000 Chronomats in one year - that's crazy, so maybe the production numbers aren't what they were hoping for.

I guess I'm never satisfied - the Chronomat is different, but not me, this isn't different enough.

Next!

I am assuming that, and hope I'm wrong.

It just seems odd to launch a model with the same layout in the high end range and no in house movement - especially if there is going to be a Navitimer and / or Professional with it.

thats true that it does seem odd to do that maybe they have something special in mind for in house bentleys but then it begs the question why launch a new one now.

mmmm must say the more i think about it the more baffled i am.
