Breitling time accuracy compared to Rolex

Post subject:  Breitling time accuracy compared to Rolex
I just got my Chronomat Evolution in graphite dial and sub dials from an AD ,here I'm abit ignorant in terms of using the chronometer,when I stop the seconds hand and let the watch run on 60 seconds dial ,it runs +7 to 8 seconds ahead of atomic time within a time frame of 24 hours and when I let the big seconds hand run along side the 60 seconds dial ,it gives an average of +3 to 4 seconds a day .I know for an automatic upto 5 seconds aday gain or loss is normal .Is it normal for my watch ? Please enlighten me on this .

Are you saying that The watch runs more accurately when the chronograph is running than when it is not?

Both Breitling and Rolex watches run within Chronometer specs, so they should perform similarly as far as accuracy.

My Rolex and my Breitling are within 10 seconds of each other monthly.

Yes thats right my watch runs more accurate with the chronometers ON ,say +3 seconds a day and + 7 seconds a day if I stop the chronometer .Out of curiosity I would like to know whether my watch runs fine or it doesn't .

To me that sounds like your watch is in general too fast to begin with so the Chronograph is slowing it down just enough. Just so you know, its called a "Chronograph" not "Chronometers"... the entire watch is a Chronometer because its been certified by the COSC, but the subdials that act like a stop watch are called a Chronograph.

Set the time, and wind the watch manually. Leave off the winder and check it in 24 hours, and again in 36 hours if you have a spare watch to wear. Try with the chronograph running, and without.

I have a Rolex GMT Master and I never thought it was overly-accurate. My dad wears a Submariner and it is always fast. I wouldn't judge accuracy by a Rolex.

I got a breitling this time just with the thought that it would be one of the most accurate watches in terms of time accuracy .I'm two fingers crossed .After my Rolex Daytona and Omega Seamaster this graphite dial Chronomate Evolution has added one more star in my watch collection .What makes me amazed that my Swiss Army Ambassador has more accuracy than any automatic watch I ever came across to .which is almost +2 Sec a day.

I would definitely bring the watch into your AD to have them regulate it. Tell them it's +2 seconds off COSC standards. :) I did.

Try positioning it differently during the night (or day if you leave it alone), and see if it is consistently 7-8 seconds off. If so there's nothing wrong with it. It just needs a bit of fine tuning.

If it's way off then I would try to get Breitling to fix it.
