Post subject: | Breitling Navitimer or Rolex Submariner????HELP! |
Hi Guys, newcomer to Breitling Source, I am looking to add to my Tag Formula 1 with something a little more distinguished. I am torn between a Standard Navi or Rolex Submariner, both look to be roughly the same price (give or take a couple of hundred) I know this is a Breitling website but I was hoping for a little impartial advice?! Thanks |

What's a Rolex? ![]() I think Driver8 has given you good advice (which is slightly surprising). The practical aspects will probably drive the decision, if not then try them both on and see what 'speaks' to you more - it's a very personal decision. |

The Sub for an everday wearer is vastly more water resistant than the Navi. Sometimes Im afraid to sneeze while wearing my Navi. But then if contact with water is low in your everyday life then for certain go with the Navi. Far fewer of them out there than Subs, Chronograph feature, different styles within the model to choose from, larger size and face, comes on a strap or bracelet and cool temperature converter on the caseback. The Subs are nice, they have an iconic design, a manufacture movement and Rolexes hold their value a bit more than other brands. But everyone and their grandma has a Sub and your choices are: Steel with Black dial, Bi Metal with Black or Blue dial, all gold Black or Blue, or LV a Black dial with a Green bezel insert, and they only come on a bracelet. |

Hello, I had the exact some delima..... IT IS A VERY HARD CHOICE.... However I decided on the Navi..... Why? 1) I like the chrono feature more than the waterproof feature 2) I am sick of every man and his dog having/wanting another rolex 3) I do not feel the Sub is very good value..... I bought my Navitimer A13322 on the used market for a song..... ABOUT US$2500-.... for that money I would need to pay an extra US$500- for a NO-DATE Sub 4) I already have a Rolex DateJust with Diamonds - this is a good value watch on the used market which is waterproof 5) the Rolex forum really sucks.... I was banned on their whilst here everybody loves me! 6) Rolex lost $3 Billion to that stupid cheat BRIAN MADDOFF.... Brietling wastes its money on vintage aircraft! MY FAVORITE AIRCRAFT IS THE SUPER CONSTELLATION! 7) You can't wear a Rolex Sub with a Suit! A navitimer goes perfectly with a suit...... just look at my photo below.... ![]() MY COLLECTION ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

As an owner of a navi world and a seadweller (much nicer and less common than a sub imho) I can safely say they are both wonderful....I use my SD as a daily 'beater' its 5 yrs old, hasn't missed a beat and looks good as new after a quick polish. I use the navi as an evening or dress watch.....Looks great with full highland kilt/formal attire. ....I think a superocean offers somewhat better value than the sub if you want a solid diver watch (oops, got one of those too) My opinion....get the navi and a cheapo beater till you can add a sub/SD or SO to your stable. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

...I really like my Rolex Sub Date (picture below), but after "Breitling experience", I would always go with Breitling ![]() ![]() |

third choice? CHRONOMAT/BlackBird ![]() ![]() I had a SUB for 10 years....wore it everyday (and night), loved it, abused it. Sent it to Rolex Service and the watch came back looking LNIB. I exchanged it for a Breitling and haven't regretted this decision one bit. Rolex watches just don't excite me any more... I find their styling (and size) kind of outdated IMO. I still have 2 Rolex watches in my collection (a yellow gold DD which I hardly ever where, and an Oysterquartz which I am hopping will go up in value one day so I can dump for cash ![]() |

I know this might lead to some hate on here but my opinion is go for the Rolex.... not that the ling isnt great but there's nothing like a rolex in my mind, especially if you wear it all the time.I lovemy lings but my rolex is my watch ofchoice for every day wear and tear. I would get that and then the next one would be a 2 tone navi! |
