Post subject:  Polishing Question
Hello Forum,

I have had my ling for about 3 month. It has some scratches on the bottom of the bracelet (very light nothing deep) I purchased the cape cods based on what I read here. How do you use them :?: I have never polished anything in my life. Please give step by step info (I don’t want to make it worst.) Thank you All :wink:

There's nothing to it Harleyboy. Just use your Cape Cods like you would if you were trying to rub a mark off something. Would suggest keeping them off the crystal as the cloths are obviously very VERY slightly abrasive so it's probably best to keep them clear of the AR coating, but apart from that they are dead easy to use.

Yeah, what he said, and add that you take a cotton cloth or polishing cloth afterwards and buff all the cape cod polishing compound off afterwards. They are VERY gently abrassive.. nothing like a real polish, so its not too bad.

I have found that I am not fond of the smell of the Cape Cod cloths.
I tried Mother's Mag Polish and find it does the job well and leaves no smell after briefly washing it off.
Easy to find at Auto Palace type stores for about $5

Wash the watch or just the bracelet in sink with dishwashing soap and warm/hot water.
Towel dry, a little bit wet OK.

Apply mothers polish and rub hard with your fingers back and forth into the bracelet and caseback (DON'T TOUCH THE CRYTSAL, THE ANTI REFLECTIVE COATING CAN BE RUBBED OFF)

With a terry cloth buff dry.
Follow up with a quick rinse in hot water and you are good as new.

Recommend for shiny links, if you have brushed links be careful or don't listen to what I say. My bracelet has both shiny and brushed, so I buff very lightly in one direction on the brushed and buff as hard as I can on the shiny portions.

Forgot to add:
if you are a polishing fanatic and desire that mirror shine.

Buy a dremel and use a small piece of Cape Cod cloth at the end and have at it!

No, polishing will bring back that perfect mirror finish your watch/bracelet had when brand new.
Polish too hard and you could lose that brushed finish, if your watch/bracelet has that, but you will not lose theshiny finish.

Definitley invest in a Dremel tool. They are very handy. Nothing like polishing at 30,000 rpms!
