For those of you who have one or have had one, just wondering what your experiences are with this watch. I don't know if it is necessary, but I was thinking of adding a quartz watch to my collection for durability reasons. For those times I want to be a little more active and not have to worry about my Auto's being damaged. Not sure how much "activity" the auto's can really handle... Would you play tennis with one on? Even if it's not your playing arm? I know a guy who has a pristine B1 for sale, and made me think a little...Also...if you have an idea of what is a good asking price on these as well it would be helpful. I'd really like to see a quartz model with a durable coating like the Black LE SA that didn't come with the LE price tag! |

hey, i have a B1 SQ and love it, it takes a good deal of abuse, keeps perfect time and is wearing very well. Davey Damnfoolman has had his B1 non SQ for over 7 years its never been serviced and never let him down, its his beater although he loves it to bits. also Andrew Michales the AD has a NOS Black face B1 for sales its on for £1595 but as your in the USA i think it works to $2240 plus P&P which is a pretty decent price at the Mo. let me know if you neeed more info |

The B-1 is a Breitling classic but is a heavy watch. If you want to wear a quartz for sport, then I'd suggest trying an Aerospace which is titanium and light as a feather. |

I don't have a B1 but I do have an Airwolf and the thing that draws me to the watch is the absolute amazingly accuracy of the SuperQuartz. The watch can be programmed to make a tone on the hour. It always pleases me (maybe I am a bit simple) when the watch tones and my MacBook announces the hour simultaneously. The computer gets its time information from the internet and will self-correct, the Breitling is just stupendously accurate. The weight is, well, what it is. It is a heavy watch and that is what leads me to select one of my lighter watches when I am getting dressed in the morning. Love the watch, I just don't need it to remind me that its there by being slightly uncomfortable. I have a the Pro Bracelet, a rubber divers bracelet and a deployant/croc strap, all Breitlings. The least comfortable one is the deployant - by the time I remove it there is an irritated dent on my wrist. The weight is also why I am shopping for an Aerospace in titanium. That way I get the accuracy without the weight/comfort penalty. |

Post subject: | Tons of pros, four cons - that's why I haven't bought one: |
1. missing minute repeater of the Aerospace. 2. missing the simultaneous visibility of day-date and chronograph (like that of the Junghans Apollo Alarm, or the Valjoux 7750-based day-date chronos. 3. missing count-up lunette like that of most Lings. 4. missing wr of at least 10 atm - even when a new case back lowers alarm and minute repeater volume. I think all are easily curable - if Breitling HQ thinks the same way. Just my two cents of course. Regards: Robertus |
