A word of advice for everyone, KEEP YOUR TOOTHBRUSHES AWAY FROM YOUR LINGS.

I took an old toothbrush and dipped it in soapy water and gave my ling a good brush over, now there are tiny scrathes ALL OVER the polished surface. They look like they can easily be removed with the Cape Cod stuff though.

My Evo looks awfull  I wish I haden't done that. Images to follow.

Altair,

You obviously must have previously used that toothbrush with an abrasive material because the bristles of any toothbrush are not hard enough to scratch Stainless Steel. Every time I use my Cape Cod cloths I clean the oil that is left over off with soap and a toothbrush and I don't get any scratches. Try a NEW toothbrush next time.

An old toothbrush that can be purchased new for $4 bucks on a watch that's worth thousands of dollars? Seems like a fatal mistake.

I'd be really surprised if a toothbrush could scratch up a Ling. What are those bristles made of, fiberglass?

I would think worn bristles would have even less impact. I use a toothbrush on my Lings occasionally and they look fanatastic after I am done.

Hopefully your brush didn't pick up any dust particles or dirt!

Toothbrushes are made of nylon fibres usually so there may have been some toothpaste residue on it (which contains abrasive particles). A cape cod cloth should take care of the minor swirls that you have and restore that shine.
