Fellow Breitling'ers

I was thinking over the weekend whether or not the Breitling for Bentley watches are "instruments for professionals". I have looked on the site and cannot find a reference to that slogan. What is Breitling's philosophy about these watches?

Breitling has done a great job in their marketing, getting us to think of our watches as an instrument rather than just a watch. I own a half ling but I think of it as a full blown, built for purpose, genuine Breitling instrument.

Guess what I am trying to ask is: Are the Bentley watches true Breitlings even though they are not referred to as "Instruments for professionals"

Please, I am not being prejudiced towards anyone’s taste or choice in watch - its more for my information purposes and to spark healthy debate

Graeme

I bet less than a 1% of Breitling owners have ever used the watches as instruments (other than telling time of cource) and from those only a handfull must have REALLY needed the calculations, pilots have much more reliable instruments nowadays. A recent poll on this forum supports this, and thsi is a Breitling enthisiast forum!

Just a slogan as far as I am concerned, not to say that the added features are a novelety but rather part of a rich heritage + look bad ass.

Grey,

I don't know if the Bentley's are for professionals, I just think they should be called "The Best Lings"

:uplaugh:

I don't see how they'd be any less professional than the regular Breitlings series. They aren't marketed as such, but that's about it.

The Breitling for Bentley series is more than just a series, its a different brand, really. Not all regular Breitling dealers are Breitling for Bentley dealers.

The calculations/slide rule/bezel on your Naivtimers, and others are used to calculate functions to be used in flying and therefore sold as instruments for professional flying enthusients(misspelled I know)

The calculations/slide rule/bezel on my Bentley are used to to calculate average speed, top speed etc... used for driving.
therefore sold as instruments for professional driving enthusients (again with the misspelling)

Still sold as an Instrument for Professionals, either way.
Breitling is just not for Pilots anymore...

Cheers,
