One member on TZ had it done awhile back and I think it cost him $200 at his AD. |

That's not a bad price at all considering the work that has to go into taking the watch apart and putting it back together. |

Why do you people think $200 to remove the movement and polish a case a great price?,what do you people do for a living that makes you think that, can you earn that sort of money doing whatever it is you do??????,it aint a good price...it is just that if you want it doing then that is what you WILL have to pay Breitling to do it,it's not value for money by any stretch of your/anyones imagination. |

I dont think they take it apart, other than removing the bracelet from the case. Technically, I guess youre supposed to remove the movement, but I dont think most placesdo that for $200 other the B when its in for a service. @OP Here is the link at WUS: http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=155588 |

It takes skill, much like many other things. If somebody doesnt know how to polish a watch from a brushed finish, there is a fair chance that they will ruin it. It probably takes them an hour of work to do it, plus they have all of the tools necessary, and they also assume responsibility if they F it up. Im not saying $200 is worth it--im just telling you why it isnt as cheap as you would like it to be. |

It's all about comfort zones. Some people laugh at others for taking their cars to a mechanic. Brushed to polished isn't something that takes 5 minutes. Especially when you have to get around the crown and pushers etc. There can be a lot of little parts whatever. To me it would be money well spent should I feel the need to have that type of service performed. |

I didn't see anyone state that it was a "great" price.. not sure where you read that. Mario said it wasn't bad. Whether its value for money is up to the individual.. I don't see how you can determine what is value to another person. At any rate, $180 is what it costs over here for a full polish restore of any Breitling.. I assume repolishing a brushed finish is the same or similar at the AD. I would think that in order to do a proper job the watch would have to be take apart beyong just the bracelet removal. |

Any skilled professional for any type of service (car, heater, network) is going to be at least $80 an hour. For something as rare and difficult as polishing a high-end watch (for which there may not be consistent demand), I would think it well over $100 an hour. Plus, as RJRJRJ says, they are also assuming liability if they mess up your very expensive timepiece. So an hour of work by a highly skilled professional with a rare skillset and high liability...$200 seems about right to me. Heck, I go to my ear-nose-throat specialist and she talks to me for 3 minutes then shoves a stick with a camera up my nose for 30 seconds and bills my insurance $900. Anything seems like a bargain after that (especially if nothing gets shoved up one's nose). Maybe that means I don't have a good nose for bargains.... Mofongo |
