Hi,

I am going to trade my 2007 White dial Super Avenger to a Breitling Evolution from 2008 with blue dial and gold crown and pushers and 18kt/ss bracelet. Both watches are complete with everything and I am paying 1400 euro extra for his watch.

Am I getting a good deal here?

Then my next question is about customs fees. I live in Saint Lucia (caribbean) and the watch trade is taking place in Netherlands. Now I was planning to ship my "new Evo" to Virginia in the States and have a friend ofmine bring it into Saint Lucia because of the high import fees if I would ship it directly here. If I ship the watch to the States from the Netherlands, would my friend or I be charged any customs/tax fees?

Please advise.

It sounds "fair" to me, more or less. In US dollars, id peg the SA at about $2400-2600. The chronomat at about $4500 or so.

Of course this is only my opinion.

I would say RJ's numbers are pretty close. I know nothing about customs fees so I can't really help you there. :?

First the obligatory warning on customs, which everyone always ignores..........

Depending on the rules in St. Lucia, it may well be a criminal offence to try and bypass customs duties - so do your research first.

In terms of import duty in the US - there will be duty at the prevatiling rate - I think it's 4 or 5% currently, but I'm not in the US, so you'll need to confirm. There may also be sales taxes due in the jurisdiction depending on what the rules are in that State. The courier company will likely also charge handling fees for processing the charges.

Can't comment on the "deal", but...
Wear the watch & ship the box and papers, either to friend or home.
