To set the stage..I currently have just one Breitling. I bought a steelfish the year it was released (should have waited for the 44mm to come but was impatient and ended up with the 42mm, crap). Anyway, 5 yrs have passed and another birthday is around the corner. What better way then to treat myself to another one of my favorite watches. I want something completely different and have settled on the SOH or SOH Chrono, not sure yet. My question is that while at my AD tonight I had them put the black SOHC on the honey croc strap...what a combination!!!! looked awesome but it didnt sit as well on my wrist as the metal bracelet im used to on my fish. Do they break in and settle down a bit? I love the combo but comfort is an issue for me as I wear my watches 24/7.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance...

I have the SOH but not the chrono.
I have enough watches with busy dials.

The SOH on a mesh bracelet is a super classy watch and I bet if you told the AD - it's mesh or no sale - they'll change it.

:yeahthat The croco straps do break in but does take a bit (depends on amount of wrist time and wrist sweat -- gross but true). HO is likely right, though, in todays climate if you offer a make or break, you will get what you want. Good luck!! :lingsrock:

It wasnt necessarily that they wont give me the mesh, i like the croc. just wondering about breaking it in and if a watch tends to sit better once its broken in.

Any wrist shots of the SOH on mesh now that you guys mention it though?

Last Breitling I got new was a Chronomatic 49 on leather strap with deployant clasp.
It was so stiff and inflexible I went straight for the mesh to replace it.
That's a US$750 mistake but at least I learned from it.

If you get a strap you can always get the bracelet later. Never hurts to change and enjoy...

I find they break in easily and are much more comfortable after about 1 month of wear.
At first the croc straps are very stiff.
I find the tang buckle is more comfortable than the depolyant which always sits a little stiff on my wrist so maybe just a buckle swap will improve the feel.
Your AD should knock off a couple hundred if you have him swap the deployant strap to a tang one, provided they have 1 in stock of course.

Cheers,
GT

Yes, they do break in after som use. My new straps have been between 2 weeks and 4 weeks, getting more comfortable with every wear. I bet that color combo you made them assemble looked great!

I find depolyants just a little bit more comfortable than tang and buckle, but they also reduce the wear significantly. For prolonging your croco's life I believe they're worth their cost.

just to add my two cents.. its hard to judge how comfortable the croc straps are going to be when they're fresh on..but I just put a croc on my old navitimer which I wear pretty much everyday and after two weeks its broken right in, pleasure to have on the wrist!
