Hello all! I am new to the forums here and relatively new to the watch world. I bought my first mechanical watch a few months ago, a seiko sports 5, and have been hooked ever since! I am considering purchasing my first "real" watch and am flipfloping between Breitling and Omega. Right now I am leaning towards Breitling I think. I wasnt even considering them until I tried a few on at my AD last week. They are pretttty nice!

Anyway, my point is, I found this deal over at WatchUseek forums and was wondering what you guys thought of it... i hear this is the place to go for Breitling advice!

http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=233776

It says it includes the box, but no papers. Is this a red flag? Should I just forget it? I've compared the pictures he's provided with many others and cant find any obvious signs of a fake. There is a similar sale on the Time Zone forums that is $300 more and includes papers. Would that be a better idea? I really like the look of the Chrono Superocean....

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks everyone!

Lack ofpapers is concerning in so far as resale (as you can now attest to) as well as certainty of veracity. Warranty work, regardless of age, is out of the question w/o the book. Those are some of the reasons for the price difference. The watch looks fine to me, but the masters of the fake will have to weigh in. Welcome to the most expensive disease known to man. Breitling collecting! :lingsrock:

okay thanks for the quick reply! I feel a little better about the sale now.

I contacted him and he says:
"The watch was originally purchased brand new from an AD in the Caribbean in 2008. The original owner threw away the box and papers to avoid paying taxes through customs. (This was pretty dumb because he probably lost more on the trade than what he would of paid in taxes). The guy was a regular customer of Lorilill Jewelers, and traded it in because he thought it was too big for him. I still have the receipt from my purchase."

Does that sound okay? I'm just being very cautious here, like I said this is my first big watch purchase and I realllly dont want to get scammed :)

Edit: oh I almost forgot, he sent me a bunch more high resolution pictures (upon request). I'd be happy to post those too if you guys feel that would help in identifying a fake! Also, WatchUseek has been having some problems lately, so if the page isnt displaying refresh a few times.

Thanks!
