![]() I like the way your horizon indicator is marked inoperative!!! Is it wise to have one hand on the camera and one twiddling your knob (so to speak!!) while airborne upside down!! |

whys that??? you can clearly see im trimmed for a climb back to altitude . what the hell do i need a turn coordinator for I dont fly IFR in the citabria lol. thats not the artificial horizon thats marked inop citabria's dont have an artificial horizon. |

Very hard to stay coordinated flying aerobatics! ![]() For you non pilots, the inoperative gauge as AcroPilot pointed out is the turn coordinator. It displays information about the rate of turn, roll, and the 'quality' or 'coordination' of the turn. When learning to fly, empahsis is put on this gauge to keep the "ball centered" when entering and exiting a turn. Should the ball go left or right, you will "step on the ball" or apply left or right rudder to keep a turn "coordinated". There is your ground school lesson for the day! You can also watch the ball action with Your pilot: When it stays nearly alligned in the center on every turn, You can assume, the pilot has also learned how to fly a glider... PPL-pilots are usually too lazy to use their footpedals, as engine power will be enough. If You fly a glider, an uncoordinated turn can cost You a couple of meters. So You learn how to exactly use it. (Although, there is a better and simpler instrument to check that(does not work with single engine in the front): Just tape a wool string on Your windshield...)
