Just pick up this one from ebay, it looks like it'll work fine. You'll have enough room for 55 watches you're planning on adding, plus the doors are bulletproof

Hmm. I was very busy over the long weekend and had my Herc in my winder for a few days while I gave the SOH an outing. At some point over the weekend, the Herc had stopped. The Herc was in the winder, the winder was on the 'timed' setting, which I thought would be plenty to keep it going - but obviously not. Am I being stupid here? I know that the winder does restart the cycle once it has finished, and I thought that would be OK for it and I could leave it in there for a few days without having to bother with it.

Any help is appreciated.

as for "the best" i'm not sure but I have a Rapport one, had it 18mths now, nice little wooden box and has never let me down does what its supposed to do and I would certainly recommend Rapport as a make, as for which one suppose it depends on a few things how many watches do ya want to wind ? How much do you want to spend ? and do you want the watch on display whilst in the winder ?

THanks for all the great tips. Just wanted to know which winder is better for the Bentley MOTORS watch? I read in the forum that the Wolf winder was scratching the case. ANy preferences on winder with this watch?

When I bought my SOH last Sunday, I ordered a winder from the same place. They told me it would take 'at least 2 weeks' to get it but they called me last night and it's in, ready for me to pick up. I'm not sure which one it is, but it was the cheapest one they did, a single winder and it was £200. I've probably had my pants pulled down on the price for a) being in the UK and b) never ever going on ebay. Being a complete novice to this kind of thing, I've been looking on the interweb and read something that says that an automatic watch needs only 30 minutes a day to keep it wound. Any help with this kind of thing would be brilliant. Oh, just realised that I've committed the cardinal sin and not searched the site first, so apologies if there is already detailed information on this - I'll go and look now.

Sorry to bang on like a complete n00b guys, but I now have the winder and am happy with it (even though it's bigger than I expected). The so-called instruction manual is a bit of light card folded in half and isn't very detailed. The winder is a Rapport W100 and it has 2 settings, Constant and Timed. Obviously the Constant setting is self-explanatory, but for the Timed setting, the 'manual' started to explain that it is a 5-hour cycle (if memory serves) that changes direction and stops for a bit and so on. I've googled for some better indication on this but found nothing - once it has done the Timed cycle, would it then stop or would it just start another cycle ad infinitum? I ask as I'd like to put the Timed cycle on and head off out to work for the day/stay overnight at my lady friend's house and be confident that whichever watch I'm not wearing will have had a good wind but won't have been spinning around constantly. Any help is appreciated. Sav I see that you have had this particular winder for a few months now so I am assuming this is the first time that you have had issues with it. I have read your previous posts also and noted that you had questions about the timed setting but it looks like you now have that problem resolved. The Hercules calls for winding in both directions so the setting of "timed" on this particular winder would be correct. I checked the brands website and while not a lot of information is available it does say that the timed setting rotates the watch both clockwise and counterclockwise. I am not clear however on the whether the timed setting is for a certain duration of time as you mention or if it is for an intermittent on off period to allow the mainspring to wind down. My thoughts would favor the later. It just makes sense to me because the purpose of a winder is to prevent the watch from stopping and a winder with a limited "on" time would be useless. So we need to consider other reasons that it stopped. First and the most obvious is do you have it plugged in with the electrical adapter or are you running it on batteries? The second thing I would consider is is the winder adequate for the Hercules which requires 650 turns per day. I don't have access to the specifications for your particular winder but you could probably contact customer support and they could give you this information. I guess the third thing I woulld check would be if the winder has malfunctioned and stopped working. Aside from this, (and excluding a watch malfunction) I can't think of anything else. Maybe someone more familiar with this partcular brand of winder will chime in. Best of luck and let us hear back. Cheers.
