I was browsing through the Breitling website looking at Bronze dials and chanced on the GMT. The dial looks great and well balanced, and although I do not like the way the strap is attached to the case it does look very good on the bracelet.

I have not tried it on yet, is there something I am missing or cant tell from the pictures?

The comments I remember were to the affect of the bezel being too thick.

I don't think it's all that bad. Especially if you like Hublot Big Bang King type of watches ;)

I have tried it on with the rubber and all I can say is that the watch is one of my favorites, but the rubber strap does not do it justice at all. I was just imagining it with the bracelet and it would have been one of the best of the Bentley lines I would think. I may just get rid of my little white chronomat and throw that towards a GMT. Only time will tell tho.

Have a good day. 8)

I've always liked it, as you'll see if you browse the forum for threads on the GMT. Especially on rubber, I've handled both the steel and the gold one on rubber. Maybe a bit pricy though - especially with the gold case.

And talking about price - I'm unfortunately starting to really like the Flying B Chrono. I better stop, because my wallet doesn't approve at all for the near future.

Personally I don't think it is that well balanced compared to the other "traditional" Bentley models. I've tried on a couple (all on the bracelet) and IMO the bezel is definitely too thick, especially with that knurled finish on it, which then makes the dial itself look quite small. The large GMT-hand push-piece on the left side of the case doesn't do it for me either, and others have said that it's easy to push accidentally while wearing it.

I also really dislike the offset lugs and the way the bracelet integrates with the case. And the taper on the bracelet is way to excessive as well. It starts off as a Speed bracelet (wider outer sections of the links), but ends up with all 5 parts of the links being the same size half way down.

Lastly, and while I love big watches, this one is just too big for me, especially with the integrated lugs.

For me the Bentley series has never been about restraint, but at least the traditional models were done in a classy way. This GMT is almost like Breitling have said, "OK guys we need to ramp up the bling on this one, so we'll overdo the blingiest parts, so that's the bezel and the size of the bracelet where it meets the head".

It's all just a little too OTT for me.

(Apologies to any GMT owners out there, but this is just my personal opinion)

I have tried it on, and I don't like it - I didn't like it in pictures, and I tried on one of the first to arrive in North America back in May and didn't like it any more after that.

The bezel really does seem out of balance with the rest of the watch, the readability is tough - especially with the date / 6 o'clock chrono and as Driver8 says the taper on the first couple of inches of the bracelet is way too severe.

I also don't find the look particularly appealing, with the exception of the gold on rubber combo which does look good from a purely aesthetic standpoint.

I keep coming back to a comparison with the Zenith Multicity, and that's a no brainer to me.

:yeahthat x2. In person especially, the subdials of the GMT looked smashed together and the date wheel looks like an afterthought. Yucky! :x

While I have many other models on my wishlist that I´d buy before a GMT, I still think it is a lovely piece.
( and way more classy than a Hercules, sorry MarkJnk )
