I recently picked up a Hercules (awesome I must say) and I was playing with the crown and pushers and noticed that the crown doesn't screw down like my other "screw down" crowns. I am able to pull the crown straight out and then set the time. My others, you have to unscrew the crown first, then the crown pops out to hand wind, second position for date or time.
On the Breitling model website, they call this a screw-locked crown. Is this different?
The Crosswind Special is also listed as a screw locked crown, yet it worked like my others where you had to push the crown in first and then screw the crown until it stopped tight.
The Herc does not screw tight until stopped.
Is this normal?
The manual says I should wind it 40 times in the 1st position, which is against the case and not pulled out yet.
Just wondering what you guys think?

Chris

Your Herc is A39362 and it has non-screw crown. Later model of Herc A39363 has screw-lock crown.
For winding yours, don't pull the crown out.

Thanks B-"The Man"-newbie!
How do you know all this information? I really don't know alot of history behind the Herc's and what had changed through it's few years in production. I guess I will try to do a little more digging and find some more history behind it.
Thanks again so much...you always come through with the answers!
Much appreciated man! :lingsrock:
