Just wondering if there is any record that Breitling made both a Black and a Grey dial on the Hercules. I've seen a few photos and some are listed as Grey dials and some Black, yet they look so similar it's hard to tell.
I was hoping someone may know for sure or has a link to what variations they actually produced.
Thanks guys!

Cheers,
Christopher

Hmmm.... Now I need to find if they have specific reference numbers for the dial colors.
This way I can make sure, since it's hard to tell in photos..

Interesting thread. I thought the grey and black were the same watch because the grey was so dark it was referred to as black. In my search, I have not seen the true black, but have seen several of the dark grey like mine referred to as black.

Please post your findings if you locate a black.

My watch is marked A39363 but since it didn't come with papers, I'm unable to tell you what the colour code is. I think this pic shows the dial colour of mine most accurately... not true black, but more of a dark charcoal grey, and can look blueish at times when the AR is reflected.

Your Herc is from 2006 or 2007.
I think that you have a black dial, gray appears lighter than yours.

Bnewbie, you are a wealth of information!! Wouldn't the bracelet code on mine of S3603 (36th week of '03) suggest a 2003 model year (at least for the bracelet?) And how can you tell mine is 2006-07??

I thought they were only made until 2006 though?
I would think the bracelet markings would give you the age, but I guess you would have to check between the lugs if it is marked on the case to really tell.
The one I sent you a link of Mark was also listed as grey..but looks very similar to yours.
I'll make sure to post anything I find.
Chris

Still hard to tell here, but I found this on watchquote and it has the three colors you can click on to see. Not the best photos to tell from though.

I found some more photos and I'll post them up tomorrow to see if we can figure out the difference...

Based on these pics, mine is definitely "black" but as I mentioned it is not a true black.

That's correct.
Strange, A3936210 was in 2004-2005 Handbook and earlier. A3936310 was in the 2006-2007 Handbook. :huh

The previous owner purchased the watch pre-owned from Tourneau, so I suppose it is possible that part of their refurbishing process included a new bracelet, as the bracelet was in unusually good condition. That could explain the date code on the bracelet being older than the watch itself. Just a thought. :?

Is there any way to look back in previous Chronologs or contact Breitling to see a side by side comparison of the Grey vs Black dial?
I think that the black dial may being sold as a grey dial due to it's charcoal color and the grey dial may be much lighter.

Just to confuse things even more, when I was shopping, one seller that had the exact same watch as I bought, said it was called "midnight blue" and number A39362 :?:
