I have been talking with a guy about a crosswind special he has for sale and he's asking $3,200 for it. To me this seems a little high for an 8 y/o watch with no papers, even though it is in good condition. He says that it demands this price due to it's "BIG" date complication....This as compared to say an EVO..
Your thoughts?
I really like the watch, but can't see spending that much for a used, 8 y/o watch without papers.
Thanks guys...I really appreciate your input on this!
Christopher

The Crosswind Special is a popular model, so prices do seem slightly higher than you would expect, but without papers that does seem a little high!

In terms of the big date, I don't think that's the only reason that it appeals, the big date is a popular complication and I do like it from a practicality / ease of reading standpoint and also from the instant change feature, but I wouldn't pay a hefty premium for it.

Thanks for the reply. I do feel it's a bit high.
Does the complication demand that much more due to the involvement of the movement?
The new Blackbird looks very similar, but it's pretty pricey right now.
Thanks again!
Christopher

The big date is actually much more complicated than you would think. I agree with Roff though, its not something that should command a large premium on an 8 y/o watch with no papers.

Too bad he won't come down on the price!
