Does anyone know the list prices of an Avenger Seawolf and a Superocean Steelfish? I think I’m going to try to purchase one this week. I was all set on the steelfish but seeing the new SS Seawolf has made me stop and think again. I really can’t decide. I’m also not sure about the price difference either, that could be a deciding factor. Man…what to do……other than act fast I plan on pulling the trigger before the rumored Feb1 price hike. I’d also love any suggestions. Also hopefully talking retail prices is not against any forum rules(could find that). If so please pm the data.

Thanks

According to my pricelist:

Seawolf list price: $3,660

Steelfish list price: $2,945

Both prices given are with the steel prof. braclet. If you go for a different strap, the price will change accordingly.

You couldnt go wrong either way. Both are large, water resistant to great depths, and the brushed finish adds to their ruggedness and durability. I would say go with whichever one smiles at you. I do prefer the white dial color on the Steelfish, but didnt care for the large circular indices. So I went with a SeaWolf. But the choice is yours, and at the end of the day, it is still a :lingsrock:

I love my steelfish. I think the circular hour markers are so nice since it is unique :D

SEAWOLF!!

I have both of them. I love the Steelfish, but the Seawolf just blows me away. It is heavy, but I find it very comfortable on the wrist. Also, the dial is so simple, but really elegant. The whole watch is rugged, but beautifully done also in an elegant way with the sides polished and the top brushed. I got the black dial, and had the Ocean Racer strap put on. Here is a link to my posting:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7153

I saw one with the PRO II on as well, but I though it kind of takes away from the black dial. The one I got came with the Diver Pro, which also looks great, and I am now thinking of getting a black leather strap as well.
Metal86 has one with a grey dial, and that looks incredible as well, his has the PRO II which I think suits the grey dial better.
The Steelfish really is amazing as well, although some don't like the round markers, I think the whole dial setup is great and very unique.
Anyway, if you do a search, you will find quite a few postings about the new Seawolf, and the steelfish.
I will really be interested to find out which one you end up with.
Cheers,
Carl

Personally I'd go with the Steelfish. As much as I've tried to get used to the stencilled numbers which seem to be in "fasion" lately - I really don't like them.

It all boils down to personal choice!

My suggestion is to try the Seawolf on with a dress shirt...my steelfish barely fits under the cuff. The seawolf is a thicker watch. Both are fabulous, both will make you happy. I'd go black dial either way...the AR coating looks best on it.

Good luck.

oh i just bought my Steelfish a week ago...25% off at a local AD. Might want to jump on the sales now before the price hike in next week. I've been told by ADs as well as informed on here.

I think either piece would be completely satisfying. My Steelfish has become
my daily companion. As I've said many times, if my IWC deal falls through, the
Seawolf will be my next watch, without doubt. If you can't decide which to buy,
do what I did once when I was in my Rolex mode. I was torn between the Explorer II
and a GMT-Master II. So the salesperson took out a quarter and said, "Heads the Explorer,
tails the GMT. Okay?" I said, "fine." I walked out with the Explorer on my wrist; wasn't
a bit sorry. :)

Both watches are fantastic. Good luck.

Steve

For me the Steelfish is a good "cross-over" piece. On the one hand it's very rugged and built for the ocean depths, but on the other hand the dial is quite "ornate" with the concentric rings and metal marker surrounds, so it can be worn more formally too. The Seawolf is definitely more sporty in character, which depending on the look you want to achieve is either a good thing or a bad thing. Both are brilliant, but as an all-rounder I'd say the 'Fish just edges it. (But then I would say that as I've owned 3 'Fishes over recent years! )

I've owned a few steelfishes, and they are a fanastic all purpose watch, but having recently just seen the SS 2009 Seawolf, I have to say that is an incredible watch. It is much thicker and bigger than the steelfish, and though I like the dial on the steelfish more, the Seawolf is a fresher design and newer to me, so it appeals to me more. If i were to pick one, I would go with the Seawolf.

I'm in Louisville KY. There is only one AD in the state, but just over the river in Indiana (1 hour - 30 minutes) there are two others. Anyway if some has a reference at a near by AD please send me a PM. I have a few other contacts from fellow members I plan to phone around in the morning. I plan on running by my local AD at lunch tomorrow and trying on a Seawolf.....I tried on a Steelfish last year. Thanks.
