I'm looking for more info for this. I found a Breitling Wakmann pdf online from 1959. Here is what I know:

http://www.wakmann.de/uploads/media/wakmann_katalog_1959.pdf

On page 14 the clock I have is model number 118-12-24-10 (on the top right).

8 day movement, 2 3/4" dial etc. Original price was $180 in 1959. About the same price as the Navitimer and Superocean on page 9 of the same catalog. Does anyone have any info on this piece? What kind of aircraft it was in etc?

My humble guess is that it was installed in any aircraft. This due to the fact that Aircraft clocks are an extra feature in aircrafts that you pay for to get. The normal standard instumentation is: Altimeter, Variometer, Speedometer and if it is night equipped a horizont gyro and instrument backlighting. Of course, take it for it is worth, I can be mistaken and wrong (not that it is often though ;) )

Nice, I'll take your word for it until I am holding the clock in my hands. We'll see if it has any vintage/character scars ;)

It looks like it's in pretty good shape in this pic. Take some clearer ones when you receive it. 8)

I don't think it would have been standard equipment in any aircraft for the simple reason that I don't believe Wakmann had any contracts with aircraft manufacturers - I doubt they even tried because the volume needed would have taken up too much of production and the prices wouldn't have been competitive.

More likely they made a few of these as high end aftermarket options for US registered aircraft.

Thanks guys. I got it for a good price for a project I have in mind so I'm happy with it either way :D

Does the clock happen to have a manufacturers part number, or is the model # the only part number?

It's here and it only took 3 days to get here!

First off it's waaaay cooler than I thought it was going to be! In fantastic shape and runs great too.

Here is a shot to give you a reference as to how big it is. Accompanying it is a Super Avenger and a Breitling car clock out of a bentley
