i was talking to a friend of mine who is in private security and looks after some wealthy people who have reason to worry. now i dont want to get into a 'thats not what its meant for thread' but i suggested he look at recommending those who are kidnap risks buy an emergency and if taken pop the cap and he could liaise with the appropriatye services to get them tracked and recovered as an extra precaution. this would mainly be useful when other tracking device have been found on the individual as the E is not active until activated so no signal is given off. i know there are easy ways round this for a kidnapper but anyway he has asked for some info on it and i wondered other than the normal Breitling website has any got a link or written anything good on this? cheers Alex |

I also had the idea to buy an emergency just in case I was kidnapped or was in danger. but then I thought to myself is when the kidnappers saw my bling shining on my wrist wouldnt it be the first thing taken away. lol Just my imagination |

The Breitling Emergency watch is not designed for personal protection. It is basically a wrist worn aircraft distresses signal. What you need is this: http://www.geosalliance.com http://www.geosalliance.com/tours/findafone.html It can be had in a cell phone form. if you set it off it sends your GPS coordinates and get's the proper authorities notified. |

I've not seen anything specifically on the Emergency, but anything that applies to the 121.5MHz transmitter applies. Main thing to remember about the Emergency is that the transmitter isn't that powerful so the issue of satellites no longer monitoring 121.5 is irrelevant because the signal isn't strong enough for satellite monitoring. In terms of use - the agreemet that you have to sign limits it to aeronautical emergencies so technically you are liable to the fine, but I somehow doubt that will be the main concern at the time and if you pull it there will be a response. |
