Hi fellas!

I have been searching for my next piece for a while now. Everynow and then I get across watches that are sold without papers. (They seem real in all other aspects).

What is the drawback in buying a watch w/o papers?

Wont I be able to get it serviced properly? etc etc.

What is the reason to sell a watch w/o papers anyway? If it is real and the papers are lost there must be some way to get a new set of papers ? Right?

So give me your opinion on watches without papers.

Cheers

//Mattias

Papers prove that the watch is genuine and can add up to 10-20% to the value. Replica Breitling watches are sold with fake boxes/manuals but not fake papers.

Lack of papers will not prevent you sending the watch to Breitling for a service.

Wrong! If you loose the papers, Breitling will generally not issue replacements. Until recently, there was not a global market for used watches. You would tend to go back to where you bought it and trade it in so people didn't always recognise the value of the paperwork and keep them safely. And even the best can loose their papers...

Unless it is an old model, always look to buy with papers. It may cost a bit more but it is far safer and you will recoup the additional cost when you decide to sell.

the only documnet breitling CANNOT re issue is the warranty book, other than that they can all be replaced.

if you know the watch is real and have no intention of reselling and get a good deal papers make no difference.

i dont have the warranty book for my fighters (which annoyed me as it was sold as complete), and have no papers for either of my 2 UTC modules but other than thats all complete.
