Post subject:  Cronomat Evo vs Chrono Superocean

Going to buy my first Breitling.
have it boiled down to either the Chronomat Evolution or the Chrono Superocean.

The Evo is £800 more than the Ocean but I can't realy see the difference.
Infact the Ocean is rated to a greater depth (500m vs 300m).

Can someone point out why the Evo is more expensive and perhaps help me with my decision.

Thanks,
Ray

There's not a lot of difference in the heart of the watch - they both use the same movement, but aesthetically there are a number of differences. The SO is part of the Aeromarine series and as such comes with the Professional II bracelet rather than the Evo's Pilot bracelet.

Personally I much prefer the look and comfort of the Pilot, but that comes down to personal taste. There are other differences - the rider tab bezel is different between the two, the SO's being simpler, and the SO is slightly smaller.

The Aeromarine series is the diver watches so you do have more waterproofing there, although the difference between 300M and 500M is purely academic unless you are going to use the watch for serious diving.

Other than that - go with the one that looks and feels right - you won't be wrong either way.

I gather you have only seen pictures of the two? Try them on and you will immediately find out why the Evolotion is Breitlings best seller.

I far prefer the Evo than the CSO. If you can, try them both and and decide which one feels good to you... but for the most part, :yeahthat

You are right, I've not seen the Evo in real life yet.

But I intent to visit my AD tomorrow for some 1on1 with an Evo and compare it to an Ocean.

I do like the look of the Evo bracelet, it seems more refined and I can see how it could be more comfortable.

My fav color is blue, but I'm not sure a blue face is the best buy. Black or silver with blue dials seems to be more popular.

I'll let you know which way decide.

Cheers,
Ray

I thought so, when you wera them both check out the sides as well. The Evo is so much more watch, both literely and figuratevly.

I had the same conundrum a month ago, opted for the blue and have not looked back since. The blue on the Evo is absolutely mesmerizing!!

Post subject:  Blue looks great

I must agree, I just checked out the 360 degree image on the Breitling web site and I can see the extra fine finish on the Evo, the case has more curves and the bezel looks more defined. It even looks slimmer, even though the specs say it's 2mm thicker!

The hope I like the blue in real life. A chap in work has the Ocean in silver with blue dials, so I really want a different look.

So far I'm siding with the Evo in Blue.... I'll know better tomorrow.

If you do not own a watch with the bling factor, I would choose the Chrono Evolution. The Evo's bracelet is polished, and is a very classy piece.

If you already own a watch that's got some flash to it, I would choose the Chrono Avenger. I like the style of the Chrono Avenger better. It's a tad larger, and a bit thicker.

Both are great timepieces, and I would enjoy owning either of them. Get them both on your wrist, and decide for yourself. As long as your happy with your purchase, that's what counts!

Good luck with your decision!

Post subject:  Evolution wins hands down

Just back from the AD and I agree, the Evolution is for me.
The CSO is also a nice watch but I'm taken by the Evo bracelet.

And for the color...... I tried several and ended up deciding on the blue face. It seems to suit my clothing style, I'm more a jeans and casual shirt guy.
The sales man claims that Blue is the best seller, but he would say that after I chose it

I resisted the temptation to hand over my credit card there and then.

The polished bracelet on the Evo is a strong asthetic point on the piece.

Sop for the best deal, and pull the trigger! Post a pic or two when you seal the deal.

Post subject:  Face change?

Will do.

Did I read somewhere that Britling will change the face colour during a serice for a nominal charge?
Is this accurate ? can it be changed? Can the Dials also be changed?

Thanks....

They will change it for you, but I dought it will be cheap. Dial changes on most high end brands could cost 10% of watch retail!!!!

Has anyone tried to have a Breitling changed???

I know there are a ton of bezels for the Rolex Submariner floating around. I'm not sure on the B-Ling's.
