Hi All

I am days away from buying my very first Breitling. I have really loved the brand ever since I can remember and have spent a lot of time staring at them through the windows of the dealers.

As I said, I am going to be buying one and I have chosen to buy the Steefish X Plus. The reason for this is partly due to budget contraints (I dont want to get too carried away) and also because I like the styling and the sheer "ruggedness"of the watch.

My question is this.. is the Steelfish a good watch that I will be able to give to my son one day? Im know that the Breitling brand as a whole is absolutely 1st class but I would like to get opinions of people who are more in the know than I am.

Your comments would be most welcome

Thanks

It's a great looking timepiece. It's an ideal size, and great if you're a diver. It's nice you are thinking ahead wanting to give the piece to your son!

The Steelfish would make a great choice!

Good choice. I'm in the same situation as you. I'm looking to buy a steelfish in a few months and I can't wait. My budget had me considering the Colt GMT or the Steelfish, and I've decided on the Steelfish with the blue dial. Since I'm getting mine after you, you'll have to let me know how you like it.

I love my steelfish, though admittedly it doesnt' get much wrist time between the Bentley, the Evo w/Diamonds and the Navitimer.. which are my most worn watches.

Hey there, I also was considering the Steel Fsh. I bought the Chrono Avenger instead. My thoughts for doing so is that I wanted to have a special watch that I could also have for a long time. I chose the CA over the Fish because It does more than just tell time, and for me I think having that little something extra feature in the watch will allow it to be my favorite for years to come. I think you need to look at the watch and decide if you could get board with it or not. Think how you will like it ten years from now. If ou love it, Buy it. Let us know what you decide and send pics!!!!

Great choice, you can't go wrong with the Steelfish. There's something about it, beyond the styling (which I really like), that just makes it stand out for me. When I look at the Steelfish next to the rest of my collection, it just "pops", something to do with the satin finish, the AR coating and the fine rings on the dial. Everyone who has seen mine (I just got it this week), even non-watch lovers, have commented on how nice it is. Even my wife, who will normally look at a new watch and say "yup, it's a watch" (to be fair, that's the reaction she gets out of me when she shows me new shoes or a handbag), really took a good look at the Steelfish and commented on how nice it is.

If you can't tell, I love the watch, I'm sure you will too :D

The Steelfish is so incredible and beefy I like to think that it will last long enough to be given to your grandson as well! Great choice!!!

Thanks for all the great replies, I really do appreciate it! I have gone ahead and placed my order. I will be getting mine in a couple of days time. I have decided to go with the blue dial and steel braclet (I feel that a rubber strap just spoils the look and feel of the piece) I am very excited and cannot wait to get my hands on it now. For the moment I will just have to keep looking at pics. Any advice for a new owner?

You can be sure that I will post some pics of my purchase. Watch this space (no pun intended)

This is a really great site, thanks again for the comments

Well done!

I will go for the same: Superocean Steelfish, Black dial, Professional II Bracelet :))

I just have to wait until December this year, in order to benefit of the Tax Free (about 10% refound!)...

Enjoy and regards.
