Black Dial, Pro II strap. After 2 years of going back and forth on the idea of purchasing a "nice" watch I finally went for it. The past week or so I was mulling over purchasing used, grey market, or even replica! I decided for the extra couple of hundred it was worth it to me to purchase from a AD. I ended up with 27% off of list, plus 1 additional year added to the warranty bringing it to 3 years. I pushed hard for 30% but they wouldn't budge. What will I be looking at as far as maintenance costs for the watch and also how much should I expect to pay for a black rubber strap?

Also...goofy question I know...but is there a such thing as overdoing it in terms of recharging the lume by holding it up to a light? If I do this often will my lume fade over time?

Good choice, I think the Diver Pro retails for $110 or around there. Check with the AD to see what he can throw it with the watch for you, I know mine was thrown in for dealer cost.

Fine choice, great watch. I do not think you can over charge the lume. It has a finite half life that is not affected by the "charge" as far as I know. :lingsrock:

Congratulations on the pick up!

You can't overcharge the lume, but it will age to some degree.

There's no half life because Super Luminova isn't a radioactive isotope, but there will be some degree of slight aging regardless of how many / how intense the lume cycles.

Sorry Roff, as always you stated more precisely what I meant. Not a true "half-life" of course, but rather a simple loss of intensity over a long time. Sorry for the mis-statement.

At least see if you can get the same discount for the Diver Pro as you got for the watch. That is correct about Diver Pro price - $110. If you really want to live it up, get the Ocean Racer strap with deployment clasp - that is around $400. but it's a wonderful looking, and comfortable strap. I actually like both, and the Diver Pro is excellent.
You will love the SuperOcean. You should not have to get it serviced for about 5 years anyway, that is a major servicing and could be around $500. Mine went for 10 years before I had it done! Not something I would recommend however.
Great choice!
Cheers,
Carl

Right on. I just bought one (black dial) before Christmas. My first Breitling and I too bought from an AD. I love it. Not enormous like some and not too small. I have the pro II bracelet which I will use when I go diving. I'm seriously considering the black croco bracelet with deployment clasp for every day use. Nice combination with the Steelfish. You can mix and match bracelets on the Japanese Breitling site if you want to see what different bracelets look like with your watch. :lingsrock:

The ocean racer strap definitely fits? Looks like it is a different size compared to the Diver Pro.

The lug width (width of the watch where the strap/bracelet is attached) is 22mm on the Steelfish. As long as the Ocean Racer is 22mm it should be just fine.
There is a post in the gallery, and I will try to find it and attach the link for you, of a Steelfish with an Ocean Racer strap. I would post a pic of mine, but it has the PRO II strap on it now.
Cheers,
Carl
