I don't know about it being a collector's item, but you will still find plenty of people who would happily buy one.
Usually when a model is discontinued you get a flurry of people suddenly REALLY wanting one as they either realise they are going to miss out on a watch they always wanted, or people think they are going to be worth something because they are now discontinued. Over time that behaviour drops off, and the watch settles into it's "post discontinuation value" period. With the CA it still has it's die-hard fans, but to be honest, most people who liked it and never bought one would (and are) equally happy with the AS instead.
