Came home this evening to an extremely well packed box containing a rather special watch

My Le Mans is now happily getting used to running again and we'll see what kind of accuracy it can give me without any adjustments. A service may be in it's near future - there's a scratch on the bezel, but the warranty car is only dated June 2005 (first sold in Spain) - much later than I expected, so the service may not be needed yet - we'll see.

The colour is much closer to the Legende than I expected, but definitely different. I'll take some photos on the weekend and try and show the difference, but with my photography skills there are no guarantees.

I did discover that one of my long held beliefs is wrong - I was always under the impression that the bronze dials were numbers 1 - 250, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that they aren't - because mine is #562.

I was very impressed with the way that Blowers packed the watch, and while UK sellers aren't always the most attractive for those of us in North America, they have been a pleaseure to deal with.

Best of all, there wasn't a big bill waiting for me, so looks like Customs didn't smack me upside the head for another 18% - the first time that has ever happened.

Not a bad day for a Monday!

And yes guys, I know that you want pictures, but when I spend almost 6 hours a day commuting they are going to have to wait until the weekend.

Congratulations Roffensian!

Great news to hear it arrived as it was supposed to. I hope that bill won't show up afterwards. And of course you also know I'm looking forward to see the pics when you have had the time to take them. :)

Many congrats Roff! I bet it's a beauty in the flesh.

Maybe it might need a half service (or whatever they call it) to give it a quick polish and replace the bezel if it's got a scratch on it.

In terms of numbering I'm not sure if all the individual colours are number sequentially in blocks or whether they are numbered at random. Either that, or the blues are numbered 1 - 250, because that's the range that mine falls into.

Many congrats again, and like everyone else I'm looking forward to those pics......... although it appears your commute to work is generating even more interest that the Le Mans!

Great news, Roff. Many congrats.

Also good to hear that Ian provided the good service that he's known for over here.

I hope my PM helped a little on the price too.

Nick

P.S. I'm back on the hunt for a blue dial Le Mans again now (though it may come at the cost of my Chrono-Matic 24hr LE).

My commute is between 1 min (if I am working from my home office) up to 1200 miles (one-way) :)

Thanks for the comments guys. To address a few points:

There are a couple of blue ones on Chrono24.

The numbering must be pseudo random as I have seen blues outside of the 1 - 250 range for sure. I suspect that they may be in 'waves' depending on production period - i.e. if they produced 100 of each to start with then 1 - 100 would be one colour, 101 - 200 another, etc. Mine was produced in late September 2003 which is likely consistent with a mid production piece.

In terms of the commute - I own 90 acres on Georgian Bay (part of Lake Huron) and yes I love it. However to earn the money to pay for my addiction I need to work in Toronto. The good part is that 3 hours of the commute are on a train so I can still work / read / sleep.
